15 Hr Sifts

Hi Everyone
I know that the hours thing has been discussed numerous time. But simply can you be made to work more than 13 hrs against your will?

I’ve always been under the impression that anything over 13 is at the drivers discretion.

Am I right?

Nobody can “make” you work any number of hours. I suspect you mean to ask if it’s acceptable for a company to plan your day as a potential 15 hour day? If that’s the case then yes I’m afraid that is entirely legal. They can plan you for a 24 hour day if they so wish, but it’s up to you as the captain of the ship to carry out your work in a safe and legal manner.

Unfortunately there is nothing in writing (aside from the obvious tacho regs) saying that a driver must not be planned for more than X hours. It’s up to you to work it out with your respective Co tbh. Sorry if that’s not what you wanted to hear mate, but that’s how it is.

You wouldn’t be forced to work a 15 hour shift in a supermarket as a shelf stacker. That job pays the same rate, as that of the lorry drivers’.

Totally irrelevant comparison, the jobs are completely different, and I know which one I’d prefer doing even if it was for similar money.

Very good point. Total ■■■■■■■■ of course, but a good point nonetheless. As a matter of interest, now that you’re in big school have you found that your pocket money has increased?

Good point because it will undoubtedly provoke discussion on a discussion forum. Total ■■■■■■■■ because it is wrong. That clear enough for you buttercup?

I realise that school holidays can drag a tad but trust me, if you fancy getting into a battle of wits with a proper grown up you firstly need to develop some wits. Merely calling people names isn’t successful trolling and is actually quite disappointing. Make note of the word disappointing, it’ll stand you in good stead in your adult life as you will undoubtedly hear it a lot.

You make a lot of assumptions sonny. ■■■ being the prevalent part for you. I can imagine that being loathed by not only aquaintances but by your family must eventually wear your self esteem down, but don’t be afraid to talk through your inadequacies here, you’re amongst friends. Well actually your not, we despise you as much as everyone who has ever had contact with you does, but we do enjoy a laugh at an idiots expense.

Hello Necros. Or Pimpdaddy. Or ovolly. Or… :unamused:

We have a driver doing 5x15 hour shifts every week.

Done 69 hours myself this week at an average of 13.75 hours per day. The company can plan you for anything that’s legally allowed as per the regs. If they plan a 15 and it goes ■■■■ up then you’re on a night out (see the unplanned night out thread) or you’ll need to be recovered, simple as that.

Id your 15hours are up you cant be recovered and you’ll still be technically working
