Police caught over 100 ‘white van’ drivers speeding in Devon and Cornwall in only 13 hours,
with some travelling over 100mph.
Marcus Laine, from the force, said officers will be looking at whether Christmas “delivery schedule pressures”
from certain employers might be a factor over the next two weeks.

Tbf when I was caught speeding doing 97mph in a 60mph zone (dual carriageway) 8 yrs ago I think, I was in a Renault Traffic van. I was racing between different customers to finish on time so I’m not going to hold it against these people.
Ye but they won’t have a job for long. Anyone with a car licence can do what they do.
Its also surprising how many dont know about the differant speed limits on singles and duals for vehicles over 2T MAM.
A mate of mine who owns his own crane firm, even he didn’t know the law until he got nicked doing 70 on a dual carriageway in his transit!
I did raise an eyebrow when he admitted it back last year.

boom my first thought when i read the headline how many is it just ignorance having not lookex at a copy of the highway code since they passed thier test
bald bloke:
Is there an Amazon depot local by any chance !!
No, according to their map I just looked at, the nearest is in Swansea!! There’s a crapload of Yodal and similar whizzin about this area though with their 100 odd drops per day or whatever they have to do.
Im my experience of travelling along the 30 or the 38 in the trundle wagon, it’s not just delivery drivers who go quick, its also stuff like builders vans and the like. Pretty certain most don’t know the law TBH. Not that ignorance is any defence!

First I knew of that was when I saw it on one of them police programmes. Surprised the hell out of me.
Oh how I’d love to encounter these speeding vans! I have a recently formed opinion of white van man; on a d/c or m/way they happily travel at just under the speed of light, but put them on a s/c, especially one with bendy bits and it’s invariably them at the head of a long snake of traffic as they sit terrified at 40mph dabbing the breaks for no apparent reason . Clowns.
Maybe a compulsory 70mph max limiter on vans should be imposed, what possible argument could there be against it. Still able to speed but limited to the max on UK motorways…

Well their map is wrong as there’s one in Avonmouth near where I work and there’s also a new one being built in Severn Beach, I’d put money on it being amazon as they’re lethal.

They’ll look at Christmas delivery pressures, but nothing will change, the main players will deny any responsibility of putting pressure on subby’s.
They can’t remove the van companies O’licences because they don’t need them and even if they take licences and that shuts down the odd O/D, there are others ready to take their place.
y,

Why spoil the fun, how am i suppose to get anything done?
Youll be surprised what speeds sprinters can achieve when things need to get done.

Agreed, Amazon is massive now. I hate the fact that they treat their staff like crap and dont pay enough tax but they have the monopoly now!
I saw inside the back of a Yodal sprinter a few weeks ago, most of it had Amazon tape sealing the boxes.

I thought you were against regulations?
Maybe Andrew has an eye to the business opportunities?
Could be he has an eye on selling software to ensure the job gets done?
To grossly misquote Douglas Adams: “I love regulations; and the tinkling sound they make when you break them”!
