12 volt Tesco Technika 16" TV`s with DVD & freeview - £96

It may be of interest to any cab dwellers considering buying themselves a new TV
I was in my local tesco extra yesturday and browsing the electrical section. When I came across the mirriad of TVs, so I indulged in a spot of TV spinning to see the backs of them. I discovered one 16" Technika model (model # 16-850) on sale for £96 [m.tesco.com/mt/direct.tesco.com/ ... -9351.aspx](http://m.tesco.com/mt/direct.tesco.com/q/R.210-9351.aspx) It has a 12 volt DC input jack, along with internal DVD player and freeview TV. The 12 volt jack is for the 240v brick dropper power supply. but I figure it wouldnt be too difficult for you rig up a 12v lead and run it off the truck power. There’s a 12v power lead for it on eBay item # 160630930981 that listed as fitting the 16-850
For me a 16" TV is borderline size, and possibly too small for some folks who want a 19" or 22" + tv, but maybe it’s ok for cab hoppers, but it has potential

mmm, yeah a 12volt lead shouldn’t be a problem, but the supply would have a 10 15amp load ,when the tv will most likely only require a load in milliamp s, although such a basic lead would power the tv without issues, should something develop a fault , the tv would get fried beyond repair so no warranty claims their(unless they didn’t check) but with low powered inverters being cheap enough these days, may as well use that instead

I have one. Modded the lead. Zero issues so far.

Mr V do you think it’s too small a tv for a truck??

Btw after a quick google, it’s seems someone is selling the same tv in recon condition for £77 ish with free delivery on eBay

Got a Matsui, done the same thing 2 years ago, no probs so far, they use more amps than you think, and using an inverter will need more power and run the truck battery down quicker.
If 14’’ ain’t big enough, theres always spec savers :grimacing:

Well I wouldn’t of said too small. Depends on what you desire. Doesn’t seem that long ago since the trucking fraternity were reliant on 10" Roadstars. I’m happy with it.

I would say thats plenty big enough for a truck. I use my laptop which is 15.4 inch and thats plenty! A mate of mine has a 19 inch tv in the cab and its like a cinema screen in comparison, its also a pain to keep packing away as it wont fit in lockers.
