zippy:
went for my interview yesterday. I donāt have to pay anything out except for Ā£60 for work visa. They will pay for training, accomodation and meals during my training, which is 12 days, then I am on the road, earning money. I will have to double man for the first 12 months. Mainly running all over the U.S Will let you all know if I am accepted. Should know this week. Will be flying out beginning of september if everything is o.k
Hi Zippy,
I see Yanke trucks passing through the Mid-West quite a bit! Decent equipment, by the looks of it.
As others have said, the winters will be bloody roughā¦and thatās putting it lightly!
When all is set and you decide to come over, bring some favourite foods/tea with you. You will miss it very quickly, otherwise.
All The Best!
Jim (Iowa)

AlexxInNY:
Just a quick word about life on the praries: It will be hot (100+, often) and humid during the summer, bitterly cold (-40) and windy in the winter, the food is awful, the landscape is bleak and barren, and the people are just plain boring.
You have to tell me this Alex?? It was 90+ Friday, and itās in the 60ās here today, humidity has been between 40 and 90%, so itās been everywhere between wonderful and lousy inside a week.
The food is ok though, but maybe thatās because Iām a bit off the Interstate? But Boring? Certainly.
Saw several Yanke trucks in the Interstate whilst running down from Minto to Mott (NE corner to the SE corner of the state), they looked nice new ones, with good size condos on, and a number on the back of the trailer asking for recruits Maybe I should give them a callā¦ ponder
Cop: āAnd where were you on the night of October to March?ā
got my contract in the post yesterday sent of for my work permit same day and will get it back in a week then will phone yanke to sort my flights to canada, will be starting on 13th september cant wait
I saw a Yanke truck broken down on the shoulder of I-87 north of Albany on Friday morning, I called on the CB to see if the driver needed help but he never answered ā¦ the truck was a very old wreck
did you get their 800 number?

Mr Hasler, if you saw a truck broken down on the side of the highway, it could very well be a Yanke truck, but I would disagree with you about it being a very old wreck!! Yanke Transport is well known for the new and well maintained fleet it operates! Breakdowns can and will happen to anyone at any time, new trucks or old trucks, but I doubt that the truck they sent to Albany would be a āvery old wreckā.
If any one needs some information about Yanke , just ask , I`ll do my best to answer your questions or point you in the right direction to get them answered.
i have worked with plenty of recks in my time and to be honest i have had more new wagons broke down on me than old ones and like Casey said any wagon can break down at any time. yanke have got 100 plus new units waiting for drivers to use them and i was told i will be getting a new one.If not so be it.
Allicat there number is 1-800-667-9091, give them a ring u never know
Thanks Zippy. Will give them a call. Kinda helps being in the same time zone
Please assume for the sake of peopleās sanity and the brevity of this post that I spent 5 minutes swearing the air all kinds of blue
Called yanke, and they arenāt interested in my US experience, only if I have 5 years of class 1 back home
Casey,
You seem to have avery arrogant attitude, not only do you call me a liar, you say that Yanke have all new fleet.
I KNOW WHAT I SAW The truck concerned was an old Ford day cab, Maybe it ws just used by some local for trunks up Montreal or local deliveries.
IT WAS A BLUE FORD DAY CAB WITH āYANKEā WRITTEN ON THE DOOR
I would be greatful if in future you refrained from calling me a liar, I donāt lie

Boy I must really have touched a sore spot with you Mr. Hasler! After browsing your other posts, I think you should be careful about commenting on arrogant attitudes!! i didnt call you anything Mr. Hasler, your post says what it says and mine says what it says, show me where I called you any thing?? Yanke has new trucks lined up waiting for drivers so why would they run "a very old wreck ' on the highway? You already answered that by changing the gist of your post to say that it probably was a local delivery truck or an in city truck. could possibly be ,I have no idea if they do or don
t have a city truck in Montreal but I do know that the people being brought over to drive are highway drivers not local pickup drivers and a city delivery day cab out on the highway broke down , should not be pointed out to be something it is not! Yanke Transport are well known for their excellent equipment and if these people have been promised new trucks, that`s what they will be getting.

Hi Allikat, As I understand it , they will soon be allowing any carrier in Saskatchewan to hire drivers under this program. So keep trying, there`s lots of companies looking for drivers. good luck!!
Well thanks Casey for your helpful information. But I should ask you to calm down with respect to Pat. Most of us have had āYou get a new truck in 3 monthsā before from employers, only for that to turn out to be a steaming pile ofā¦ well you know.
His cynicisn is well founded in facts, and only the drivers who go there can really tell us what the do in fact end up driving.
Maybe Bison will be hiring soon? We always have Mexican drivers available to work in the US, but up in Canada they find knowlege of the English language to be more important. I assume they want driver who are also able to speak passable French?
Thanks Alli
Mr Casey must have some conection to the company to be so pro Yanke.
Every large trucking company has one or two older motors still running around. I have in the past looked at the Yanke website and indeed they seem to have very nice ānewishā trucks but Iāll bet they still have a few old bangers knocking around.
The old Ford I saw diffinately had āYankeā written in yellow on the door.
So not only do I bet I have seen one
Je parle francaise comme une vache espagniol. (I speak french like a spanish cow)
My French got me by in France, it wasnāt good, but it got me by. And Iām not sure about my abilities in English any more, Iāve been in America a while now
Thanks Alli
No problem Pat, just standing up for reality.
