No driver to do more than 6 hours in a shift without a break of at least 15 mins

Now we come to a choice so choose only one …
Total work time in a shift is between 6 and 9 hours so breaks totalling 30 mins must be taken
OR
Total work in a shift is over 9 hours so breaks totalling 45 mins must be taken

my shifts 99% of the time will go over 9 hours.

In trying to make sense from what you’ve said I can start work at 0600 take a 15 before 1200 then work for another 3 hours before I’d have to take a 30, assuming I haven’t hit my 4.5 driving.

Sorry i may be coming across basic but I’ve never been shown anything with a tacho or ever been taught anything to do with hours properly

Choose one of the options not both
You either have shift containing more than 9 hours of WORK or you don’t
WORK is the total of driving + other work done in that shift

see the only prob with the way its written is …

I started work knowing I will be there for at least 6.5hrs I therefor have a 15min break .
I am expecting to work a min 9hrs (and heres the catch ) at 8 hours I’ve only shown 15 mins break and I get told i’m finished but now I have to wait for a further 15 min for break and then at least 1 min of work to finish …to full fill the 6-9hr wtd that’s why I say its crazy

Can work as daft the other way - get in a total of 45 mins then find you have to work longer and require another 15 mins because the back part of that shift now contains more than 6 hours of work

It can be the same with driving time breaks

I know its a pain. I still say the old way was best 4.5drive or accumulative drive and work 5.5 hrs triggered a break
