Writing "Unchecked" On Delivery Notes

One guy I delivered too at one of the B&Q’s used to write Unchecked on the paperwork. Everytime I saw him, I called him Mr Unchecked. After a couple of months, he stopped writing it.

Transc:
I delivered about 30x16kg bags of flour…

Think you’ve answered your own question :bulb:

Was thinking the same.
“3 trips of 10” . . = about 30

Doing multidrop I would rather them write unchecked at least that way I can be on my way and when they do finally check it if anything is wrong they can phone up , no need for us to be stood there whilst they check every little thing , it’s like they are keeping you ransom lol

Ive seen this a few times, I presumed it was just to cover themselves if something was missing. ive also had “pallets unloaded by hand” a couple of weeks ago when my tailift decided not to work one morning, I wouldn’t mind but I carried everything in myself :unamused:

I get this all the time because no one on the building site wants responsibility for nothing.

I get ‘not checked’ scrawled across the top with ‘Micky mouse’ written in the signature box. I get my arse chewed constantly for this

This must be a builders thing , the amount of mickey mouses that sign mine , they always ask “do you want a signature ?” As your stood there with ticket & pen , they are a dumb bunch , I tell em to put what the ■■■■ they like on it coz once its off the wagon I don’t care we have one arse who complains that notes arnt signed & doesn’t believe that his boys wernt on site at 2pm on a Friday afternoon …

At the company I worked for in England before moving out here we were all issued with a stamp that read “Unable to check contents” with a box for our signature that we were supposed to use when loading goods and then signing for it. Most places didn’t mind but a few kicked off a real stink and would get very confrontational and in some circumstances ■■■■■■ the paperwork back and tear it up. The best of it was though, our boss was forcing us to use this stamp and then when it came to the crunch and we’d used it and then had to stand our ground to back him up at the coal face, he’d just buckle and give in as soon as they called him, leaving us drivers to look like prize pears sitting there with our stamp in hand, which we were not not going to use after all.

STC was a common clause on most delivery & collection notes, some shippers insisted on it.

When I worked for United Carriers with upwards of 60 drops per day plus collections, we didn’t have time to wait while someone checked a box of tights or bags of wool, so we just had unchecked written on them.

I have got into some silly arguments when a dumb shop assistant wants to open every carton.

“The notes say 6 cartons, now sign for 6 cartons or I shall take them back and you pay for redelivery.” :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s like when you get a parcel from royal mail they ask for a signature
So you can put anything you like your name to a X mines often just a scribble
It’s to say said person got there parcel, that go’s for the firm im pull for its to said jo blogs as got the goods, so it don’t bother me if they put unchecked, Micky Mouse, Donald Duck, the Queen, onces it’s off my trailer it’s nowt to do with me

Its all a big crock of ■■■■. I once delivered some Velux windows to Jewsons on behalf of Salvessens. Did my job to the T and got the notes signed then off to the next delivery.
Following week I got a phone call at my house from the trainer at Salvessens asking about said delivery. Who was it that signed he asked, " like how the hell would I remember his name" I responded. It was the bloody forklift driver who signed for the goods.
Apparently Jewsons said they had not received the goods so me and the trainer had a bit of an argument as to the point of getting delivery notes signed and the fact that I must now be a thief because Jewsons are saying they do not have the goods.

The trainer wanted me to go with him to the said depot on Monday morning to which I agreed providing they paid me 8 hours for doing so. He nearly had a heart attack at my suggestion but I was not moving on this one, they were pointing the finger at me so they would pay one way or another.

So, the trainer visited Jewsons on the Saturday before the Monday of my visit and he told them the goods were signed for, the driver was adamant the delivery was good and therefore the police would be involved.

Guess what? yes, amazingly I got a phone call on the Monday morning from the trainer to inform me that Jewsons had surprisingly found the Velux windows.

No apology came from his mouth so I just told him to eff off and put the phone down.

Being the cynic that I am, she may have decided to half inch a sack or two, and then blame an under delivery from you! In your case, after she had written her comment on your ticket, I would have taken a picture of the sacks delivered before I left.

Muckaway:
What is the point to this and does it have any legal standing? I can see a point if an order is very large but I delivered about 30x16kg bags of flour to a bakery in Camberley just over a week ago, woman watched me sack truck it in in 3 trips of 10 and stack it (why do we do this, Sainsburys don’t with your internet shopping??!!!). On signing she writes “unchecked” across the ticket. Why when she’s stood there and watched me wheel the stuff in and stack it?

Should say “Contents not Checked” said bags could contain Sugar, cocaine, etc. etc.

When we used to collect the phones ,most of us drivers would write goods unchecked on the paperwork, as there was no way to check what had been loaded into the truck, or count the quantity , when we tipped ,9 out of 10 times we had to wait whilst they checked them,
