Wishing to live and work in the USA

the best way to get in on a perminant basis Marry a Yank, even then you will have the lns knocking on your door asking 20 questions every so often to make sure the marrage isn,t a scam, but best of luck anyway Glen

Thats just crap! We got married almost 5 years ago, went through the immigration process, and even though it took a long time to get the initial appointment, he got his green card on site with no waiting. They never even asked us one question about our relationship at the interview. The INS official actually spent the time talking to Patrick about vacationing in England. I don’t think he even asked how we met. And we haven’t heard one word from INS since then other than receiving the renewal form to remove the restrictions on his residency.

To show you that INS isn’t exactly as rigid and heartless as some people think,… my income level wasn’t anywhere near high enough to sponsor Patrick, but they elimated the financial requirements and waived the regulations that require a co-sponsor if the income isn’t high enough… because they could see we had a legitimate marriage. As long as your marrying for love and not for a green card, there’s nothing to worry about.

Getting a green card is almost impossible nowadays unless you can meet a chick on a website such as Match.com and have a whirlwind romance/marriage.
There’s always the slim chance you can find a trucking co. that will pay you under the QT but that’s risky at best.
Personally, living in the US has no great appeal…nothing like you would imagine. The novelty soon wears off and the US is no different to living back home. It has it’s good points but so has the UK…so don’t be seduced by greener pastures over the fence.
I would say to any budding trucker who wants to get his CDL…stay away from these trucking driver schools such as MTA or TDI…absolute rip-off.
Better to enrol in a school financed by the city, county or local tech school. They do a better job of teaching and won’t cost anywhere near what these so-called truckdriver schools charge.
I learned at CR England…who have a great school even though the rest of their operation is very poor…cost me around $1500 which I paid off in 12 mths…then I moved on and got a decent job with food grade tankers
A good Tech school should be around $1200 more or less but nowhere near the fees I’ve seen…ie $3000!!! :unamused:
