Saw a curtainsider myself yesterday, it was a 2 axle rigid on local work. Didn’t get a shot of it, it came past too quick. Well anyway, over here any curtainsider is treated the same as a flat for load restraint rules, at least by the septics.
From what I’ve seen of European curtainsiders, there is often a hinged kickplate that seems to be there to keep stuff from sliding out the sides. US curtainsiders never have these.

That is probably a tilt trailer you are talking about rather than a curtainsider,you don’t really want to be running a tilt,nobody likes them because they take along time to strip down to look like a flat.

another reason for the low number of curtain siders could be that land over here is for the most part cheaper. therefore it is easier to obtain a larger lot making it more convienient to have dock doors
