Who's got a Roadhawk?

Goldfinger:
Ta for the replies so far.

By the looks of it, I’m swaying towards the roadhawk for some reason, don’t know if it’s because of the GPS / google maps partof it…

A wise decision.

You see, there IS wisdom here… sometimes.

they are supposed to have a hd one coming out after xmas, i will be upgrading , ive had two mant situations where if i was on my own , i would get the blame , but beacuse of it, i prove beyond doubt i wasnt to blame , main one is roundabouts and correct lane postition,

i got one , and its ace , had others which were rubbish,

you need a big memory card in it , not the crappy 4 gig one that comes with it

If you look at it properly it states, with 16gb card I sent for it & to my surprise it came with a32 gig card

i got a 4 , now got a supafast 64gb, and it makes the diffrence

One thing i forgot to mention in my post. These roadhawk’s record your voice too. You have the option to switch the sound record off if you wish. Don’t forget to do this if you are on the phone to your mates slagging off your boss or his company

Am thinking of getting one of these for myself just AFTER Christmas. Bit cheaper then perhaps.

Also wouldn’t mind an orerry (sp) too. Oh and also a …hmmm, best not get too carried away for now

Rather than have them stuck to the window I think set back in the cab would be better. I always find its hard to judge how far a vehicle may be in front when you can’t see any of your vehicle. The company I am on for at present has them. The trucks have stickers on the side saying CCTV which is seems to put a lot of drivers off arguing with you when you point it out to them ! For some reason though, this firm I’m with right now has them placed on the nearside in a place not covered by the wiper blades ! Strange if you ask me !

They won’t be any cheaper after Christmas.

We got given one by Towergate Insurance, no idea on the retail of it but it’s definetly a good system, plenty of vids on Youtube to back this up.

I’ve got 1 from tower gate in my actros.

Do those LEDs light up when recording? That’ll be brilliant here in London! Obvious they have been recorded! :sunglasses: Looks like a great bit of kit!

I think those LEDs are the infra red LEDs for night recording. I’ve heard they can reflect off the windscreen when recording, meaning you get a bright light in the middle of the picture in night vision videos.

Looking back at some recording i have noticed a bright light (circle) from the sun, a reflection from the windscreen, how do others get round this■■?

Ive got one and it has helped me once to clear my name. £180, 4years and one RTA i dont know if its worth the expense but its there keeping my mind at ease i suppose.

It caught an amazing crash on the M74 involving 3 artics, a car and a lowloader violently swerving then hitting the car, but i forgot all about it and didn’t download it and the card rewrites itself every week or so. I could have got that on police camera action aswell.

HAD ONE A FEW MONTHS REALLY GOOD.CLEAR WIDE ANGLE FOOTAGE.EVEN TRIGGERED WHEN HAD MIRROR CLIPPED .

I get some sun glare from my Roadhawk. Can’t really get away from it driving towards the sun.

The only thing I can think, to minimise any glare is to mount the camera as close to the glass as possible.

Had some good results today when i placed a piece of clear plastic between the camera and the glass windscreen, seemed to take a lot of glare away.
