Why would you even post that on facebook for everyone to see !! Takes a real professional to do that, still it’ll be September soon and plenty of tools will be off the road

Why do you think that? The same tools will still be on the road but a lot of the good drivers that are at retirement age will be the ones off the road.

Agree some good drivers will no doubt hang up their keys & some tools will have to hand theirs in to. Still plenty of both camps on the road but I do find a lot of the ‘tools’ are closer to retirement as appose to the younger generation.

Just my opinion & observations before everyone starts getting themselves all excited.

Yeah should be interesting to see what happens in September, I’m just afraid that if their is a driver shortage then are company’s going to let any clown with a licence behind the wheel of a 44t lorry? And if so we will see driving standards get considerably worse.

What has September got to do with it, and why is it such a surprise and revelation to some of you that the industry is full of f/whits calling themselves drivers, have you just noticed that NOW :open_mouth: ? These are the type of guys that are attracted to the job for a number of reasons.
The ■■■■ poor wage in the industry is hardly an incentive :unamused: , and the fact that advancement in truck technology has got to the stage where anybody that is able to drive a car can now drive a truck without any required actual skill nowadays, or for that matter without any common sense or initiative required down to the “Logistical planning dept” knobs that virtually feel the need to hold your hand.
So consequently we get these type of guys.

Also be careful what you wish for the guys wanting a more advanced CPC, at least now it can be clearly seen for what it is…(.ie, a mere formality for govt and trainers to make money under the guise of a legit qualification) I mean, do you all really want your licences suspended until re-tests are passed in a complicated stringent genuine exam? :bulb:
Better idea would be scrap the ■■■■■■■ thing completely, as we all managed fine without it for generations.

That first pic is in comag coventry. The load would of been pallets of print double stacked. I very rarely see drivers strapping up there.

I say September because I was under the assumption that was the deadline for anyone that has had their licence since before September 2009 to have the cpc completed, feel free to correct me on that.

Yes there are plenty of excuses for drivers around, I recall a thread on here where an inexperienced driver spent three hours trying to reverse onto a bay before giving in. Now I wouldn’t knock any new driver for struggling a bit, I’m not long at it myself but who gave that man a licence and decided to send him out in an artic that he clearly couldn’t drive?

My point is that if the predicted demand for drivers does come about then we will see a big increase of these incapable drivers flooding into the industry.

The first pic is few years old I was there when driver pulled in, you would be surprised what distance he covered before pulling to yard. Second pic was recent apparently driver been ask to drop it and the legs was down.

What was he carrying, and how far did he travel like that? I think we should be told!
