I did tip at Asda in Normanton on Wednesday last week with the aforementioned trailer on the back so you almost certainly did… Thank you for your good road manners!
Glad to see its going ok Mr Monk, ffs leave the ideas of owning another one in the ad-blue tank, look where it got Richard & where He’s at now.
I wish you every success in the future.

I’ve got no plans to get another truck in the foreseeable future, although I do have a licence for three vehicles. If, at some point in the future, I was offered a long run of work such as three or four months on a tour then I would consider putting another vehicle on the road to do that because that would be fairly profitable even if I had to sell the truck after the tour.
For now, I’m just content to plod along earning a reasonable living and to be able to drive a truck which is maintained to the standard which all trucks should be, but not all trucks are. I’ve been out of work for about 50% of the last two years and I’m not eligible for any state benefits, and with interest rates being what they are I’ve watched my savings dwindle and if I don’t do something they will eventually disappear altogether.
The reason I have savings is that when my ex and I separated in 2007, our house had gone up in value by £100,000 over the previous seven years. I saw the recession and property price crash coming and chose to take out half of the equity rather than buying her out, and since then that house has fallen in value by over £30,000 so I would have to make a real pig’s ear of things to lose as much as I would have had I elected to keep the house.
Incidentally, Richard has been a real help in starting up, I talk to him virtually every day asking him for some piece of advice or the other.
I don’t know if it will work or not but I will give it my best shot. The way I’ve set it up I have calculated that I could do two months at it, decide I didn’t like it, sell the truck for £2,000 less than I paid for it and still come out ahead, and with an Operator’s CPC and Driver CPC paid for.
Thanks, to you and everybody else for the words of support and encouragement!

Just a quick update for anyone interested, I’ve been running on a Standard National O Licence since I started, but my green windscreen disc arrived this morning. That’s obviously very good news, I have been sub-contracting up to now but my whole intention always has been to run a specialist exhibition and roadshow transport company and obviously an International O Licence is an essential part of this.
I am doing some exhibition work in September, just a couple of trips up to Aberdeen but it will be a chance to get the truck noticed, have a chat with people and hand out a few business cards. Hopefully this will lead to some more work in the future.
Meanwhile everything is ticking along uneventfully and the other hurdle I faced, keeping enough money in the bank during August to satisfy the TC who wishes to see August’s statements as a condition of my original O licence, will be scraped over, albeit by the tiniest of margins.
I’m making provisional plans to put a second truck on the road next year if I do pick up a reasonably long run of tour work, and I’ll either do that myself and take somebody on to cover the sub-contracting, or take somebody on who is keen and wants to go away on tour and send him/her instead. I’ll probably ask on TruckNet.
Thanks again to everyone who has given so freely of help, advice etc.
Really happy for you mate. I’m glad its coming together!
About 5 this morning M6 northbound around Sandbach area. I overtook you in an Edwards Transport Scania.
Yep, tipping in Northwich atm.
Southbound m6 stoke 12 ish
I hope your charging them extra for pulling that grotty brown trailer with the southern star
Yes, it has been round the block a few times, although they all run well enough.
Incidentally, I’m pleased to be able to announce that I noticed today that Morrisons have undergone a re-branding exercise and now have a far more appropriate name.

I think considering all this spotting we need a Harry spotters/fan club??
Where can we find a ■■■■■■ and a midget to follow Harry around in a camper van■■?
