wheres cliff

The price of gas is free falling and the snowbirds are in town, pretty much makes for hell on the road…!!!

There everywhere, you can’t go up a freeway without seeing every second car having a plate from a different state, especially the cold ones…!

OK, now I’m going out to brave the freezing weather (75degrees) in my shorts and tshirt and deal with some traffic.

See you all later

American truckers WORK?? :open_mouth: :astonished:

:laughing:

And yes, the volvo is very sweet. I just need a full tank of gas, and I’m off over the border to interview with a guy about getting me one of those. A brand, spanking new volvo… sweeet :smiley:

Good luck Allikat, I hope it goes well! :wink: :laughing: :sunglasses:

Freezing… 75 degrees…

There’s a connection here… Not sure if I’m getting it.

What are you taking Munchman? And where can I get some?
It’s 35 during the day here, and low 20’s overnight. The water pipes to the camper freeze every night from about midnight until mid afternoon…

Sheesh it’s cold…

Thanks LadyTrucker. Here’s hoping it works out…
The company is based just over the border in Manitoba, not far from the Pembina border crossing, so it’s not that far away. Just got to convince them I can drive a truck well enough to get the job, and that hiring me is a good plan.

What is cold…■■? Oh yes…I left that behind in Scotland, it doesn’t really get below 50 degrees here in the middle of the night in winter, but, at the same time it stays over 100 in the middle of the night ion summer…!!!

I dont do cold anymnore, which is why I won’t run the snow or the rain or the cold stuff up in the mountains of Northern Arizona in winter…I guess I turned into a wussie, but such is life.

You’ll have no problem :wink: let us know how it goes.

Just recieved December’s Truck and Driver with Mr Warby as featured on a few of the reports.That Volvo Cliff is very sweet,as well as the Ram,not too sweet is the 20’ skel you are pictured with.
If ever Down Under reciprocal trucking visits can be arranged,why can’t I enter the MATS 2005 competition?? :laughing:

Hi Boots, cheers for the compliments, do you know where I can get a rock/stone guard for my windscreen? I know they make for my style Volvo ‘Down Under’, I’m hoping you could get me some info on one especially the price.

Will do Cliff,stone guards are very common accessory for most makes and models of trucks,stopping debris from striking your windscreens,are “Bug Deflectors” used over there as well?If I cant get the price,in Aussie peso’s = very cheap in US$,will give you a few contacts,Volvo dealers,Accessory dealers-even wreckers that ship international etc.

Cliff have some sites you might want to peruse;
Volvo Australia www.volvotrucks.com.au
Accessory truck shops;
www.truckbitsaust.com.au
www.ihub.com.au/cmvlaverton
www.truckerstoystore.com.au
info@roadking.com.au
Wreckers;
www.truckingsupplies.com.au
www.truckhub.com.au/utw

Might be near a large Volvo Truck dealer in a couple of days,if I can I will find out the price etc.

Cheers Boots, your a good bloke!.

Will be looking into it., It is also a possibility I may be over there this time next year, so if I can wait for it I could bring back on the plane with me, but thats a year away and a lot could happen in a year!

Are’nt you in or near Sydney? if I make it over next year we could hook up for a few cold ones.

Hey Cliff,always coldies in the fridge :laughing:
Went to a Volvo dealer yesterday and got the Quote for an NH Volvo,Aust version of US N series, stoneguard,part no. is 1065727 but price is AUST$625.50 !!!
That is way to high for Volvo spec guard,you will get cheaper,just cause it has Volvo stamped on the part doesn’t justify that price.
I am in Melbourne just south of Sydney,best state of Australia.Give me a yell when over here and would love to catch up for a beer or twenty :laughing:

Yeah I like the sound of the twenty better than the singular!!!

Cheers for the info, to be honest with the exchange rate for the US Dollar being so bad right now that price would be a bit high, but maybe this time next year it will be back to around the ‘normal’ mark, in which case au $600+ would’nt be too bad, especially if I could carry it back on the plane, to be honest I actually allowed for around that kind of price with shipping costs anyway. Having no idea as to what one should cost I just kinda got a price in my head as to what I would be prepared to pay for one wether I was close or not it did’nt really matter, much like the model trucks I collect, I may want one that is valued in the book at say 50 quid, but if I knew it was hard to come by and I really wanted it bad enough I would pay as much as three times its value just to have it…if you know what I mean.

You know that the Yanks are slowly catching on to Bullbars, mainly thanks to the Canadians, there are two main manufacturers, one is run by an Aussie and it’s a branch of HERD BULLBARS who I believe are one of the main makers down there in Oz, the company is called ALI-ARC ahd that is run by a Kiwi called brian, but neither one of them have ever been asked about stoneguards until I asked, they said it was’nt cost effective for them to get me one and suggested doing it privately, but do you realise the dumbstruck and curious reaction I would get over here if had a stoneguard on my Volvo, even though they are’nt an obvious ‘in your face’ accessory.

I have already made a note of the part number, are thay available in black, I really don’t want a stainless or chrome one. I had already gone onto the websites you provided, but could’nt find any, so once again mate, a big cheers for doing the donkey work for me, I guess the drinks will be on me if I make it over, how far is Sydney from Melbourne?
