Sorry Frenchy but I think the Pavilion Cafe was at Perth.Stayed there a few timesI think it was called the silverlink.
That rings a bell with me, but while we are up in that neck of the woods do you remember that cafe right in the centre of Auchterarder? On the main road through the village, wagons were parked up both sides at mealtimes. Always reminded me of France in the way that that was tolerated.
There was still a cafe up there when the key fuels network was being set up about 1980.
What was that cafe at Kincardine Bridge the Silver Roadhouse or something? just down the road was a little pub with a 70 year old woman serving

It was definitely called the Silver Link. There was a dormitory upstairs and all the beds had a navy bedspread on,complete with anchor .Reminded me of the old RAF billets.
If you walked over the bridge there was a pub where most drivers went, but I can’t remember the name of it.
The cafe is some sort of kitchen or bathroom showroom now I think.
Hi all, i remember the red lion in aldgate with the lorry park in the middle of the roundabout. i saw my first stripper there i was age 18, would have been 1972 or there abouts. good old days had a brand new bedford tk 7-5 ton with a long bed on it slept on parsal shelf.
In the UCC days, when in Manchester,we stayed in Hyde Road,I’ve forgotten the name of the digs but they were good and not too far from Trafford Cold Stores.Handy. Another place springs to mind - The Queens Arms in Albert Square,Southampton.Good accomodation and pub too. I remember the S/A in Liverpool too as already mentioned. On UCC we used to night trunk to our depot there and day sleep at the Salvation Army; Scotland Road? Did the job tho’,as Liverpool in those days was 11 hours with a fully loaded Thames Trader artic (with Scammell coupling).Used to wheeze a bit coming out of Keele services.More later, all the best everyone,900x20.

There were some digs on Hyde Road not far from Ardwick Green on the left going out of the city called Jimmy’s I think.Too near home for me but it looked a popular place judging by the wagons parked at night.

Light years ago,I worked for VP wines out of Kingston,Surrey and if we were going that way we all stayed at Bloxwich.Mind you ,this was in the mid sixties and it was a fair old digs and you could get a red hot bath before going over the road to the pub. After a time tho’,he opened his own bar so took away some of the pub’s trade. At the time it was de luxe-one of the best around. There was another digs I used to stay at when in Runcorn.A BRS driver put me on to it and it was like home from home. There were about six of us,all regulars, and no one else could get in.Mrs Pendlebury was her name, approx 70 years old but she treated us all like family - even hot water bottles in winter.Halcyon days
and people like her made journey work more pleasant.Regards to all,900x20.
sounds like the kernel cafe, stafford road bloxwich.alas like many others
its long gone now a residential home for the elderly.the pub across the road
is the ivy house

Yes,I believe you Charlie, thousands wouldn’t.I’ve parked the wagon up across the road from Jimmy’s and log-booked it to Sheffield many times.Wagons used to park on the main road as well I think, loaded tankers included.
Not possible now,the job’s gone downhill mate.
Yes Chris, you are right.Long gone times and good uns.Used to stay in Sheffield in the sixties as well.Parked in the coach park. The digs were a cafe in Paternoster Street. The names gone.Or if it was full the Salvation Army Hostel.Very clean in there but noisy.Ah the good old days.Wish I was young again! I don’t think so
The Willow Pattern in Cleethorpes was a good place to stay (circa 1969) We spent a week up there waiting to load frozen peas from a ship in Immingham. Just wondered if anyone else ever stayed there. It was a good week! Regards,900x20.

In the sixties I liked to stop in Cleethorpes on a Wednesday night.Always went to the Winter Gardens. In those days I was a bit of a dancer. If you were you always finished walking someone home.I never went to bed with an ugly woman but my goodness I woke up with a few.
used to park up in cleethorpes, opposite the railway station on the carpark
Wouldn’t have been Grab a Granny night would it? 900x20.
