I subcontract for a smallish firm, after 12 years I am treated as one of the firm and am one of only two regular subcontractors. Who I sub for could be described as ‘commercially sensitive’ in other words if you think that I am going to post on an other forum you are very much mistaken.
There are plenty of posts about this topic naming the larger firms that use sub contractors and if anybody can’t find who these are then that is PATHETIC.

Back in the late 90’s, I was working for a small family firm. One off their contracts, possibly one off the most lucrative the firm had, was with a local food producer, it involved delivering the products to Supermarket RDC’s right down to multi drop runs to one man band cash and carries, (you might know that the one man bands treated you a lot better than the RDC’s, but that by the by) and everything in between.
This work was hard earned for the company, through many years off top quality service. that enabled them to charge proper rates for the service delivered. everyone seemed to be happy.
Then out of the blue performance recording was required, and forms were filled out for every trip, and handed back to the customer on return. The performance was over 90% for booking times, and clean deliveries. This went on for about 6 months, and again, it appeared everyone was happy. Then the company got a months notice that they were to lose the contract. It transpired that the Directors off the food co’ had been passing the performance data to Securicor Omega, and they had used this info to help them price the job.
So much for no ones going to steal your work, and hauliers wonder why haulage rates are so bad
