dunno if you’re getting mixed up, but the cloggies used to call Mercs “Neckermanns” which was a German forerunner to pound shops In a recent update, a Dutchman said to me the other week that they say ‘I’d rather have a star (i.e a crack) in the windscreen than a star on the grille’ made me chuckle, although he was driving a 480 MAN at 65 tonne gross so hmmm

Had a Volvo F88 which i nicknamed Yorkie because it was forever in Doncaster or Sheffield BRS depots being fixed i don’t think i completed a trip with that thing without breaking down but it was ancient when i got it, it would have been a cracking motor when in good nick though.

I remember Ford Transcons being named Big Henrys, Fodens were Sandbach Specials, D series Fords were Dagenham Dustbins, most of these nicknames were used over the CB of course and Seddon Atkinsons were known as South Africans.
