A clairvoyant mentioned to a architect friend that Stobarts and TNUK was going to be around in the future,so arched bridges where designed so TN UK readers could have something to post on PD Forum, when Stobarts hit the bridges.

I think everyone has missed the point here.
The OP obviously keeps hitting them so wants to find the designer.
Will this help?

Ha ha, I was just joking. Good pic’ though.
James the cat:
I bet a custard cream that would’ve fitted if he’d drive down the middle. The middle with the painted lines. Plum
If only you’d said Bourbon we’d have been on.
We used to run over a multi arched bridge in Svilengrad Bulgaria on the way to Istanbul in the 70s
Could have been at least 60 wagons @ 32 tons on it & as many of us were way over 32 more than a 2,000 tons on the bridge
In the middle was a plaque: Built 1529 Mustapha Pasha some clever engineer !!
Mushroomman has posted a pic of it on the Old Timers Forum at:

That’s not as daft as it sounds actually.
Once Upon A Time…
The Hastings-Tonbridge Railway line had some poorly constructed tunnels on it, in particular - Somerhill/Vauxhall tunnel that lies nearby the A26 at Vauxhall Roundabout junction with the A21 (under construction)
Rather than completely re-bore and rebuild these tunnels, some bright spark decided that a “quick fix” would be to put an extra layer of bricks around the inside of the tunnels to shore them up a bit.
Problem was, the tunnels were then narrower by about 18 inches on each side, including at the top!
The solution? - Build specially constructed locomotives and rolling stock that were narrower all around - to fit through these tunnels. These came complete with diesel powered units. (Class 205, “Thumper”)
Trains built to fit the too-narrow tunnels then!

(No, I’m not a trainspotter - but my dad was really into this stuff when I was a kid)
Yep, Oliver Bulleid had stock made specially for the Hastings line where the smaller bore existed, including steam locomotives such as the ‘West Country’ and ‘Battle of Britain.’
