Smiths do a fair bit of Italy, didn’t know Payne’s went over though?

abbey road tanks, liquid food specialists, they do france, germany, and all benelux.

Unitruck do Italy or used to and EM Rogers with the green trucks, used to see them all the time over there and Brian Yeardley too.

I used to work for White and Co on the MOD contract. It was a good number but driving is definately secondry compared to the loading and unloading on the whole. We used to load 3 or 4 jobs in the uk, run accross to Germany or Denmark, unload them, do a couple of internal moves within Germany and collect 2/3/4 jobs and back to the UK.

There were many occasions when I would leave Asten in the morning, back to the yard, swop trailers and be back out for another 2/3 weeks.

Unit moves were the best, with all the manpower, it would take 3 hours to load the trailer and off you went. The longest I was out was 13 weeks on a unit move from Weeze in Germany to St Agnes in Cornwall. 3 hours to load, run to Cornwall, 3 hours to unload, back out empty and repeat

Saw one of Smiths on the E70, with marble on a flat ! Was quite refreshing to see.
See Payne’s on the top end of the 26 quite a bit, but don’t know how far down they go…
