thats one of our old lorries
I don’t think this bloke is fit to ride a tricycle
I cant believe the dangerous driving there.he should be banned for life at least.he knew he was there as he was pressing his horn
Looks like another well edited cyclist clip that misses the build up/previous encounters.
Still no excuse for the driver acting like a ■■■■.

You’ve hit the nail on the head at the end, so why put the other bit up?
We’ve all (on a multiple times per day basis) had to deal with people who ■■■■ us off and wind us up on the roads, but we don’t drive like that.
The cyclist is extremely vulnerable on the road, and that was ridiculously close, imagine a bump in the road, either for the cyclist or the truck - especially the caravan on the tow hitch, that would have been the end of somebody’s LIFE!
Is it worth taking someone’s life?
Is it worth going up on a vehicular manslaughter / causing death by dangerous driving / murder (if the video had been survived and was watched, you could argue pre-meditated by the use of the horn) charge for?

…i’d like to see what happened 5 or 6 minutes before the truck got close to the cyclist.+1
Does it matter though?
If you are that prone to letting the red mist descend then you shouldn’t be driving, certainly not as a professional.
And contraflow would normally be the first to say so!
The cyclist may well be abit of an arrogant ■■■■ but its no excuse for nearly killing him or smashing him up abit with a truck.
I ride mountain bikes, but they go on a towbar mounted carrier on the back of my car and I ride offroad in forests, disused railway lines and canal towpaths. Looking at this video I remember why I no longer ride on the road.
We can all make errors of judgement on the road with distance, spacing, or interaction with other road users, but man that was so CLOSE to being manslaughter.
By the same token, I guess we could all argue about who hasn’t had a cyclist ride up the inside of them when turning at traffic lights, or ride off the footpath when they are a matter of feet from them? Hardly a legal defence to try to react in a life threatening manner though.
Because of the horn I think that signals intent. I wouldn’t be surprised if the police prosecuted for Dangerous driving, because of the intent to scare/intimidate, and the TC revoked the vocational licence.
They should do in my view.
No previous encounter (i doubt there was any - probably was down to the cycle path) are justification for using your vehicle as a weapon towards another.
I would be surprised if this idiot was charged with anything let alone dangerous driving. Cyclists get killed every week on the roads & the best the cps will come up with is careless driving. This ensures a conviction & a pitiful sentence.
Following up this story on the cycling forums, the cyclist has already said he doesn’t want the driver to lose his job, subject to this being a one off & not the drivers usual style. As he says, we all make mistakes.
I would love to say that this type of thing is a one off & quite rare, sadly it’s not & I don’t understand why. Yes cyclists can get on your nerves occasionally but to deliberately try to injure a person because they are on a bike is ridiculous. You would never see this if he was on a horse or just walking along the road.
Having just looked at one of this cyclists other videos, he is going down a steep hill at considerable speed and near the bottom he shoots straight past a car going through speed camera markings, at some significant pace.
Whilst not justifying the lorry drivers actions (how could you), the cyclist isn’t too clever either if he thinks its cool to ride like a complete idiot and go shooting through speed cameras overtaking car drivers.
Cyclist gets pretty close to that car when speeding through the 30 limit on the other video.
I feel for the bosses of this guy, they’ll be taking a lot of flack because of some muppets ridiculous actions. I don’t even think the hate brigade on here could say that is the cyclists fault, although we don’t see any footage leading up to the event.

The cyclist added: “There is an unsuitable cycle track at the side of the road which is a shared one with no rights of way and loads of lamp posts and signs in the middle of it! That is probably why he had a problem.”
Doesn’t seem much wrong with that cycle track, apart from he doesn’t want to obey the rules of the road like stopping for crossing junctions etc.
Not great driving by van man but it seems like the cyclist is turning into another camera vigilante hero.
And the caravan firm will be under the cosh from vocal cycling campaigners trying to make a point totally missing the supposedly inadequate safe cycle lane.

One of there drivers is on here ,he posted a few photos other day,THATS SHOCKING
The chap that posts the pics. is ADE whose user name is Lurpac. Ade drives a CF DAF and if you look at the video its one of the smaller Mercedes trucks so not him. Eddie.
Our local highways department installed a cycle path beside a main road but cyclists choose to use the main carriageway. Why?

It seems they still blame the cyclist 8legger.It is very obvious to me the ones that blame cyclists for not using cycle paths have never tried using them themselves.
Whether there is a cycle path or not the actions of that particular driver were down right dangerous but the haters seem to ignore that.

A question I have raised on this forum before.
Anyway, Chester will be along shortly with his views and comments, no doubt.
