WHEN i was driving, sometimes we would double man down to SPAIN or ITALY wherever , if it was" my truck" not really, but the truck i had been allocated by the office, i would have ONE rule no music whatsoever ,there is nothing worse than having to listen to some one else’s music ,all the years i drove with in Europe i never played music at all and like lots of other drivers i went all over , i never felt the need.
I expect it stems from the late 1960s when you could not hear anything but the engine also road noise coming up through the pedals ,no radios then even now i never listen any type of music however i am still deaf in both ears, also tinnitus in both ears beware ,that is without music… dbp.
Shame is that mate,.whenever I listen to ‘‘golden hours’’ and the like, on radio shows, it always takes me back to years during the job etc.
Just the other day it was 2005 era, it took me back to my little girl coming over to Belgium with me on the Hull ferry, in the truck, 8 years old she was then, , with us both singing songs from the charts together at that time.
Or 80s stuff when me and the wife used to go clubbing, or even earlier periods in my (mis spent ) youth.
Music just puts you right back there I find,.as you associate different tracks with different times in your life.
On a side note…did anybody see Roy Wood ex The Move/Wizzard/ELO on ‘This Morning’ (this morning ) singing ‘Wish it could be Christmas Everyday’?
(Kinda proves I don’t just watch it to perv over Holly Willoughby. )
Still rocking at 76, and looking good, these old rockers just keep going.
