Hi Bubbs I havnt got many more pictures from back then the ones I have are of my trucks I used subbing for Westerns which I will put on here.

Hi Roy I didnt have an F12 on frigos ,there were 2 lads Brain & Steve had trucks on the Westerns contract for Lo- cost supermarket
sure one of them had the F12.

This has brought back memorys looking on here .Tony Maggs was my Stepfather I can remember as a kid going in AEC Mandators and the scania 110s going on night trunk up to harris road services at Northwich before Westerns had a depot at Warrington ?
Started as an owner driver in about 84 and did quite a lot of work subbing for Westerns. 1st artic was a white scania 111 the first job was
potatoes out of Milford Haven working with Phil Johns & Mackie Brown. Then did some fridge work, barrels from shell ,wood pulp from portbury
and Norfolk Line etc .Bought Scania 81s SOU976S &VAE 517T ? from Westerns. also had at different times 112s a 113 & 82s have got very few
photos from then but will try and find some.
Jeff

I’m getting you confused with somebody else on Frigo Logger, you’re right the lad with the F12 was Steve O…
I did a couple of weeks on Frigo for him after I finished up on my own. Also did some Italian & French work for Phil John when he pulled for Archbolds. I sold my Iveco to a mate of Phils one Friday & had him on the phone next day to run to France.

logger, what year are you talking mate when you used to go to harris’s yard in northwich,my dad & grandad+ uncle all worked there from about 68 to 86,did you trailer swap there or load

Hi GAZ70 it would have been about 1972 I was only a kid at the time used to go with my stepfather
Tony Maggs who not long after came off road to go into transport office.
It was always trailer changes at Northwich with a 110 scania.

hello logger, thanks for the info pal just brings back memories,i knew reg johnson who was the warrington to avonmouth night trunker because i went to school with his daughter heidi, and remember his scania somtimes parked up at harris’s yard, anyway thanks for the info ,all the best gaz

Back again after a break, Roy if you are still looking at this remember SOU 976S? Was it you or old Sparerib who had it before me?

My Dad worked for WT at Stockport in the 60s, I remember him saying when they did night trunks down to Bristol and had no back loads they use to piggy back them back north, the yard was on Portwood and was taken over by Barber Turnocks in the early 70,s and now has the M60 running over it, A few names I new of was ob my Dad…Mike Seppman…Billy Maddocks and Ernie Potts

(am actually new on this forum) Greetings all. I worked in the transport office at the Warrington depot mid to late 80’s and that vehicle SOU976S am sure was a flatbed rigid Scania on the Crosfields contract. It would have been driven by ■■■■ Holman who, I think was the union man for a while. Great seeing some old names on here (Reg Johnson, messrs Dawson and Wellman et al) Not too sure who’s still around, but have got some great memories of the good times had there (I actually did my CPC down at Burcott Road - did the fella who ran the cafe there do some of the driver training too?) Fellow Westerners, come back with some more names please, and the photo’s are super! Many thanks, Dave…(and by the way, I don’t think they would have ever fitted Norbert Dressingtable on that little green van!)

Hello Gaz, I knew Keith quite well. He worked at Westerns for some time, his last job there being on the RTZ Aluminium contract. When they closed the Widnes plant (after I had left Westerns) he went to James Irlam at Chelford and was there for a good few years. I went driving for Irlams in 2000, but Keith had left some time earlier having had an accident in work (a pallet or something fell on him.) and I don’t think he ever went back to work as a driver, and I never saw him at Irlams afterwards either. Hope this helps
