had to be reversing a 60ft extendable trailer up the odd shaped linkspan and onto the MV Clansman in Oban en route to the Isle of Mull, you would normally drive on and drive straight through and off the other end of the ship but due to its layout you cant get a 60ft through the middle of the ship so a reverse on was called for , all was going well until i looked up and saw i was being watched by around 200 passengers already on the ship and waiting for me to get on before they could depart, still, i got a cheer when i finally got backed in

not long before it ‘died’, a chipliner went off the side and needed lifted out with a crane! its great tipping there now…clean chips in a nice big yard!

i,ve had a hgv licence for 2 yrs do you recon i,d get in.
only vincent street i know in soton is in shirely and no loading bays on it at all… edit to remember there is a vincents walk where you can load onto the bay with a handrail in the way or down the little alley way at the back of hmv

have to back in off the road in between two girders suspended from the gantry and level with the top of tank, if its dark and your reversing it was easy to rearrange the hand rail on top of the tank
