Instead of phoning/e-mailing or just sending out CV’s,have you tried going into companies personally?
I found the whole phoning thing soul destroying too. My uncle suggested that going to companies to let them see a face was better. I tried it and the second place I attended offered me a trial!
I did Snowman. 28 of the 30 CVs were done in person after sending two days driving round the area.
Got a trial early next week now for a haulage company, its on nights but its a foot in the door and things could be looking up

Nice one.
I do nights and I prefer it from days by far. Little traffic,no hold ups, being able to judge how long it’ll take to travel from a to b. Bliss
Good luck

That sounds like you’ll be hitting Palletline/Pallex hubs. Start at like 7-8pm run to the hub then wait to be reloaded for the return trip.
All the best with it. Pete
I past both class one and two early last year but did nothing really with it until September, I went round a few local business’s asking for relief/temporary/holiday cover and got work straight away with two of the most local only an odd day here and an odd day there, so I registered with two agencies and the next thing I had a regular day at a big haulier in the area (could have more if I wanted) I work as a limited company so work when I want and not when I don’t, don’t give up there is work out there or at least in my area there is. I understand that the bills need paying but as a limited you can earn more an hour and if you spread yourself over as many companies and agencies as possible then work will come through, although I have my class 1 I was working two days last week driving an 8 wheel tipper. to be honest I am getting more experience than I would get if just working for one company, plus if they mess me about with pay I don’t work for them again. slowly the more I work for any company they start to realise that I am reliable I turn up when I am told to I do what I am asked to (sometimes more in the tippers) I always leave the wagons as I found them (if clean they get a jet wash if not they don’t, if fuelled up they get fuelled up if not they don’t. this goes down well with the other drivers as I may be driving their wagon next week.
just don’t give up as the bills need paying perhaps go back to the van work and try to pick up some experience at weekends■■?

Hope it goes well! As others have said, nights aren’t all that bad either.
Thanks again all.
The phone call to go in for the trial still hasn’t materialised but I’ll give it another 24 hours before marking it down as being messed about again.

Don’t give the lead up that easily, if you get no call by the end of today, then get down there tomorrow, the worst that can happen they tell you to do one, and if you let it go that is effectively what you’d be doing anyway. Sometimes you have to be pro active
Got to agree, think I’ll be getting injunctions as a stalker soon way I’m pestering companies !
Still no call and if I recall correctly, he certainly said Monday or Tuesday night. I’ll be ringing up tomorrow as no experience chances here are as rare as mermaid ‘you-know’. Hopefully the gaffer and the night manager just miscommunicated and nothing more than that.
