Don’t go to Tesco Lichfield (Fradely industrial estate). In fact avoid the entire estate, Palletways is there. I have walked in to hell, I have seen, and I have been changed.

This. A million times this. Whenever I get offered alternative night work by the agency which is usually a pallet/parcel company I ask if its going to Fradley Park. If it is then the answer is no. In the case of Ceva where its only one of their runs but still a possibility the answer is no.

Palletways is the perfect example of how not to run a hub. Fortunately I went to TPN at Minworth where every truck has a ■■■■■■■■■■■■, everyone gets pulled in to unload in order of arrival and you get pulled in to reload usually around the time you’re supposed to with two yard marshals doing an extremely good job of keeping it all organised. Palletways is just chaos.

Turn up 15 minutes before your start time? Away tae ■■■■

My thoughts exactly ! 5 minutes if they’re lucky but more often than not bang on the hour or a few mins late if I’ve already got my feet under the table. Why come in rarlier to stand around in the office for even longer because your load isn’t ready yet, as that’s what usually happens at these places, or “your” wagon isn’t back yet.

Stay to this lane, scan this crumpled bit of laminated paper, keep the curtains open, put stickers on everything, don’t go up the one way system, even though it’s a one way system at both ends? Awful. Only good experiences I’ve had with pallet companies have been working for the subsidiaries. I got to one, asked the girl who gave me the paperwork what the fuel procedure was “Oh we won’t bother you with that” :open_mouth:

I can honestly say I’ve never been on time in my life! Always been 15-30mins late (when on the multi drop) but that was my choice (can’t get me arse outta bed at gimpoclock actually) but that just meant I had to work a bit faster to make up the time or I’d just finish a bit later. These days I stroll in when I feel like it, nobody gives a stuff at ours which is why we have cut the actual shift time right back to arrive/drive/tip/drive/park/go home…no point sitting around in the cab, wiping it over for the umpteenth time because boredom has set in waiting for the load!

Hmmm, Waitrose, being ethically very Blue-chip, are in bed with K+N - who are profit-mongers of the first and worst degree …but that’s the way of the world

I suggest that not only do Waitrose turn a blind-eye to the mean-spirited, K+N hyena’s - because their store staff (‘partners’) take liberties but are clued-up to realise that they will not be challenged over shabby practice, etc, by the lick-spittle, K+N subby

So as in the majority of this industry, expect a shafting - unless you become a partner driver since my experience showed that they do not take such attitude to ‘Partner’ drivers …so therein lies much to take note of

I argue that K+N’s ethos is not in the workers interest one bit as they understandably suckle at the client’s groin at every opportunity whilst their own promotional propaganda posters on the walls are largely worthless to anyone but those wannabbee ‘managers’ doing the hierarchy’s dirty-work: Oh, and the easily fooled too (I was one). NB. The union is underwhelming too - so maybe save bothering wasting money there…

Have I been bitten? Just a lot …and wouldn’t touch K+N with yours, mate

Eh? The op question was about a few days work in a depot that has nothing to do with K&N…

You were a brinklow driver ?

‘…The op question was about a few days work in a depot that has nothing to do with K&N…’

Calm down, dear: I think you’ll find that the OP omitted to identify any location detail and

Which is what I offered him as a lorry-driver, mate
