I’m sure I’ve seen them somewhere, it’s not near Colmar or Belfort is it ?

Not that side, BB.
Much nearer Owen Money’s part of the world.

Not good quality piccies, sorry lens scratched on phone, but there is a clue because of the symbols on the figures.

How long roughly have these statues been there ?

Pretty sure over 15 years.
But less than 20yrs.

Ill answer my own supplementary question, and see if that helps. They have a road trip of 1420km in front of them. (Google maps) Maybe more useful to know its about 500km as the crow flies.

Another clue to their destination may involve some YouTube of Marion Morrison?

OK I’m guessing their destination is Santiago de Compostela and that they are pilgrims. 500km in a straight line from Santiago barely reaches the west cost of France and not much further north than Bordeaux. Although 1420 km by road theoretically reaches a little further north. I still can’t bloody find them though grrr.

So I’ll guess at pilgrims sculptures somewhere between Bordeaux and Niort.

They appear to be wearing fish

Doing well.
Pilgrims, wearing the scallop shell, or coquille St Jacques, is a symbol of Santiago De Compestela.
I`ll check on that 500km figure.
They are north of the Dept 44.

Apologies.
I read the map wrongly
Nearer 850km. in a straight line.
Sorry, again.

Still nothing in Finisterre, Orne, Eure, Ille et Vilaine, Cote d’Armor, Morbihan, Manche, Calvados or Mayenne according to Google :astonished:

I must have seen every other soddin statue in France grrrr

It is in the list you’ve given.

If they have wet feet it’s not because they’ve walked from Cornwall

Last guess then…Channel Islands?

Not Channel Islands.
Island…
Hmmmm…
Not really…

This is doing my swede in as I’m convinced I’ve passed these on holiday once but we have drove through France a fair bit and I’m damned if I can remember when or where I’ve seen them, are they somewhere between Cherbourg and Ile De Re ?

99% sure you’d have passed them then.
I reckon some will be kicking themselves…
But being on roundabouts, we might actually be looking at traffic rather than big bronze statues.

Tidying up the info you already have: Two roundabouts close by a main route.
A sort of supermarket there.
Associated with “not really an island” and Cornwall?.
On a pilgrimage to Santiago, from ?

Have a coffee break and see what happens.

Loads of cars, trucks, coaches and motorcycles will pass them day and night.
But nothing else.

You are a bad man and I may never speak to you again. Bloody half bodged clues.

They are at the Aire de Mont St Michel on the A84 and presumably are on a pilgrimage from Mont St Michel to Santiago de Compostela.

Grrrrrr :imp: :imp: :imp: “sort of supermarket” grrrrrr

Congrats and well done Wolf. Roundabout sculptures in France can become your specialist subject on Mastermind, or on Pointless . He will be along shortly with your prize and a garlicky kiss on both cheeks.

Your prize - is an inflatable gilet jaune complete with pitch fork and burning pallet-

If that’s correct I’d probably have seen them last September when we stayed near Mont St Michel before moving further South.

I can’t think where you are for the moment anyway .
It’s a roundabout by a supermarket in France

It’s actually two roundabouts, each with two figures.
Supermarket? It might be misleading to say “yes”, but wrong to say “no”.

That’s what I said.
I’m tearing up now. [emoji22]
But congrats on getting it.

Being a motorway service area I thought it would be gone in 5 minutes. Maybe others here aren’t as lazy as me, sitting around all the time?

That motorway wasn’t even there last time I drove regularly abroad…

This was the clue that put me on the right track. I was already sniffing around Mont St Michel (not really an island :unamused: ) and this said it had to be a motorway…

You wouldn’t want ALL the clues straight off, would you?
Too easy and no satisfaction when you get it.

I’ll give you a kid’s one later.
