I think you will find that they were F88s not G88s mate. They had at least one based at Boston too, driven by a bloke called Chris back in the 70s.
Hays storage first used these g88s when new on a daily trunk down to St Austell to collect China clay in special 20’ tank trailers I dont know where it went but there was some photos on the net but I cant find them now. I’m sure commercial motor did a piece on it at the time.
I know of at least one in the UK, bought second-hand by Mike Taylor from Borough Green. Originally owned by Reed Transport (the paper mill in Aylesford). I remember it because I’d never seen one before and was running an F88 at the time so could compare specs. The G88 was a day cab.
Edit…been looking for pics but the only one I can find isn’t clear enough to show set-forward axle. If it’s the right truck the reg was TKP699N.
