VOLVO FL6 switch mystery

lucemm:
it defiantly does something and is working but I cant fathem out what

:open_mouth: :open_mouth:

You have got to watch with switches like that !! Take extra care

The only online manual for an FL6, that I could find is here >http://www.urbooklibrary.com/signup?b=1&ad_domain=ads.ad-center.com&ad_path=/smart_ad/display&prod=101&ref=5014311&q=VOLVO%20FL6%20MANUAL.PDF&sf=search&adserver=0.8.0&sfv=27&sid=489&bt=1419369981208&bh=3754423253
You’ll have to sign up for a free account if you want to read it.

thanks , handbook looks good but don’t fancy giving them my credit card number for them to hold on file

According to volvo trucks you can generate a free drivers handbook if you know VIN number.

volvotrucks.com/trucks/uk-ma … nline.aspx

I assume you’d select classic models for the FL6 from 2001.

Don’t know if it will help but can always look and see.

Thanks , I will give that a try later

Unfortunatly my vehicle was built before a date they started this pdf service, it was worth a try though

Wheres your nearest Volvo dealer ?
I think I’d have been down there by now asking

have rang them sent a picture of the switch and they said it is not one they have seen before and they said it is not a volvo switch
100% definatly is and i would say what ever it is was fitted in the factory
cant take it to them as no mot but would like to no before mot incase questions get asked
my mate has one on his fl6 but when he bought his lorry new they said his did not have that feature

I’d guess then its fitted by the tipper body / crane builders / fitters
If thats so, it could just be a switch for increasing the revs for the pto ■■
Or have you got another device that does that ?

dunno
engine revs are increased on indicator stalk
very strange
just want a volvo fl boffin to see this post and recognise the switch in question

Stick a photo up if you can

if you go on ebay and search 2002 volvo fl6 220 tanker priced at £11800 you will see the switch which is located in the same position as mine
on the picture of the dash with the phone in it, the switch is bottom row 2nd from right next to engine/exhaust brake . diff lock switch is bottom row on the left
If i don’t find out before I will phone the seller and ask them if they no what the switch does
So much for Volvo (swindon) area manager saying it is definatly not a volvo switch!!!

This it ?

The design of the switch would suggest it has something to do with improving traction.

It suggests a drive of some sorts coming off the prop or rear diff, something like a gritter or similar.

lucemm:
Please could anyone tell me what a switch is for on the dashboard of a 2001 FL6 220
Tipper / crane lorry
It shows four wheels looking from above , between two wheels where the diff would be a black square box with a arrow going forwards.
(I have not been able to source a handbook yet)

sounds like the PTO switch

Thanks for your help
on ebay its on a couple of fuel tankers but maybe they are not wired up as they would not need really need traction
a friend of mine had one on his fl6 tipper which he bought new and when he asked what it was for the sales guy said it was not featured on his lorry.

Its annoying because all the other switches are self explanatory and are easy to see what they do but I agree with what your saying about power or traction
must try and find a handbook
very impressed with your computor skills getting a photo brought up and circling it is way beyond my skills
Merry christmas to you all
