Ouch, that was not beautiful. The lorries were never sprayed with Texty? The rain would squirt hard during driving.
When we renovate one F88 or NB86 the cabs floor is hard of rust and need new sheet metal and older cabins of wood is a nightmare when the doors not will sit and a bit of tree is rotted.
Hi again I got a little bit of welding done the other night so i feel like I have made a start, also I have cut a template out the get a 10mm peice of steel plate cut to make repair panels for the doors
Hi I have just about finished the passenger side of the cab in side now so I can now stand in the cab and not fall back on to the ground, I found a pair of cab rear mudguard supports on the internet in Sweden so that will save a lot of work trying to workout how the mudguard fits to the cab
Here are the photos so far
Back in the eighties I rebuilt a few working 86s, in a very similar condition.
There should be a row of welded nuts under the curved box section that the front section of wing bolts to.
A friend who worked for another 86 operator used to replace the two wing sections with a standard trailer mudwing as they were the same radius and he felt it was a stronger repair.
Hi spud thanks for the info I never thought of that and I have 4 single mudguards of a trailer that will do the job, I have got the rear of the cab frame work welded and am doing the rear panels now more photos to come
Hi Ramone I am making most of the repair panels myself as and when I need them .I had a look at the sixwheeler in leeds the other day it looks a little bit worse than your photo but there is still a lot of good bits on it, I left a note at the place so will see what happens
Do you know where I can get hold of the rubber that gos round the mudguard or something like it
Phil

GAZ70:
has any one got any interior pic’s of a f86 with a home made bunk set up,lot’s of tales about these adaption’s,but never seen one, there does not seem a lot of room back there, did you have to push the seats forward
Hi, The bunk was easy to make from some planks, cut…rough as you like!, and balanced on the back of the engine cover, the seats stopped it all moving forward. I slept on them OK ( 6’2’') but better than accross the seats. I locked myself out once at the Red Lion M1 J16, as we used to lock the door from the outside, due to the button inside not working.
I cab hear that rattle of the gearstick now…LOL
hi m8,
here’s an f86 conversion .courtesy of bubbleman .
Guy my dad drove for years ago did a sleeper conversion on an F86 8 wheel tipper by grafting the sleeper of an 88 onto the back creating an F87 .looked well
