Did Grant have a Transcon ?
Grant may have had a Ford Transcon before i knew him.He had a Pegaso Troner but got ripped off by a lady who he was a subbie for.She did the accounts for him and fiddled the books but got caught by the Police in the end.
There was an owner driver called Colin that had two Transcon’s.
He was killed by going over the mountain at Los Carolinas near Bailen.
That twisty road.He could not stop in the rain in road works. He was beheaded in the crash.
It took the Guarda Civil a few days to find his head.
once again,Colin was a nice chap. And quite handy with a mate that could print up permits.Authentic looking.
He was pulling for Euro Psl out of Pompey docks.
The grant I was thinking of came from Morley near Leeds , I cant think of any other Troners other than GBE and T D Williams had a silver one ,
I think everybody had a Troner for a while. They would give you one free for 3 months to try it out. They were a total dog. You had to rev the ■■■■■■■■ off it for twenty minutes on a morning to build the air up. Probably the worst truck i have ever known.
in fact, i remember a regular lad at freds, always there think him and another decent bloke, (whos name i forget) worked for a london based firm doing spain regular. i’m sure 1 of them was called stuart, “animal” loud, but lovely fella, all the staff knew him, he liked his food and a drink, and i’m sure i see him drink a bottle of tobasco 1 night
sadly i here he died out there being involved in a big accident with a coach 1 night?
Me and Squeaky R.I.P. (Avialink and formerly T&T Thompson) watched Stuart eat a full plate of raw garlic cloves in Sumbilla ! what a character . he was like a fixture and fitting on the spanish run. You seemed to bump into somewhere every trip. I think he lived in the lorry. Its true what they said . heart of gold and always happy to help. I’m really enjoying these spanish archives but it dampens the spirit when you learn that some of these characters are no longer with us. R.I.P Stu.

Believe Stuart ( Animal )died on the way to Portugal, as you say nice bloke but loud , with regard to Troners ,we had them on GBE but then we changed to 480 Ivecos with Fuller box , if we could have had that cab on the Iveco chassis we would have had a good lorry.
Stuart the animal died south of Madrid on the National road towards Bailen.
He was on the way to Morocco, not Portugal.
The man was a legend, no ties or family in the UK,only his Mum.
If you dared him to eat stinging nettles or a pile of cow dung, he would eat it.
I used to get food poisoning, and he said drink Portuguese Pegaes , it was 80 per cent Abv and killed the bugs in the stomach, double expresso to speed things up, he was right, it worked.
gettin-on:
Is a shame always someone to chat to
Euro now can go all week without speaking to another Brit now
I very rarely get chance to speak English (Only write it on here)…
Anyway a few weeks ago I was in Urvillers (F), when a British truck ( from Melton Mowbray of all places) parked up next to me. Time to practice my English ( or so I thought)…
Turned out the driver was Polish & could hardly speak English. I gave up after a couple of min’s…
I worked with stuart at savills great man we was based near heathrow
Stuart The animal, was built like Giant Haystacks the famous wrestler or Big Daddy, he would help anyone out.
He could drink like a fish, but never drunk or aggressive.
Rip Stu, you are a legend.
I remember him downing a bottle of tabasco in Freds
