Using ratchet straps to secure cab doors

Be careful if some low life decides to arson attack the truck, there is no time to undo the straps,a french driver died in his cab due to faulty night heater while sleeping at Vivone rouitiers, the fire station is only two minutes away, but it was too late to save him.
Could not submit to the french cab break in post, hence this post.

So what killed him? The arson attack or the faulty night heater? Or was it the randomness of a toby cab break in post post

It was the faulty night heater that killled the driver in Vivone. The owner of the establishment have told me that several drivers tried in vain to get him out the cab.

The newspaper article was on the wall in there for ages. It was a faulty night heater IIRC :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

It was in the mid 90’s, a Scania 2 or 3 series Portuguese IIRC

Yes thats the one billybigrig, the Pompiers got there very quickly,it was about 4 am or there abouts.

If I was living in my truck 4 nights a week or more I’d have a good quality smoke alarm and maybe even a carbon monoxide alarm fitted for good measure and I would do the seat belt through the door handle method.

I’m in an iveco so no passenger seat. I could maybe use seatbelt on drivers door and ratchet passenger door to steering wheel, I’m going to get a smaller ratchet and strap so I’m not messing with a dirty one from the trailer, maybe keep a stanly knife to hand should cut through quickly.

Good idea for the stanley knife to get out fast.

Only thing is Toby I’d probably slip and cut an artery lol

Or if getting for a pee in the night and forget you are in a Renault Magnum and fall out of the cab,it has happened many times.
