USA/Canada pictures

Excellent Pctures mate!!!

Great pics there Mark, the first few in green sent me into a panic, thought they were coming to take me back
I parked mine in the same spot as yours, always hard to find a space by there, it must be drivers leaving only parking

You back out here yet ?

Great pics.
That one that shows the dash of your cab, it looks like the cab is quite narrow, narrower then the ones over here.
Is it an illusion or is it actually narrow?

No you’re right it is narrow, it doesn’t really matter though, the bunk compartment is full width & that’s where me & all my stuff lives, when I’m in the front I only need the steering wheel & pedals, there’s a few storage places in the cab for maps & notes etc, I carry far more stuff than I could fit in any Euro cab with me & it’s all put away nice & tidy too

Neal, those green pictures had me trembling when I posted them

Chopsticks, that’s a Michigan Millipede, they run Michigan mainly, hence the name, they run into neighbouring states (Illinois, Indiana & Ohio) but only on restricted routes, they run at 60tons or thereabouts, not sure of the exact weights, it’s all to do with keeping the car plants supplied really, they mostly run with steel, as in the picture, or tippers & tankers. As they approach a tight turn they hit a button & all the wheels but the last three lift off the ground, otherwise they would just push you in a straight line, it’s typical American overkill really, but it’s done to protect the roads, if you’ve ever driven in Michigan you will see that it doesn’t work, the roads are dreadful :unamused: It’s not just the bigger trucks that cause it though, the state is skint & they have really bad weather up there, it’s as far north as some of the Canadian provinces & there’s a lake either side of the place so there’s always a ton of snow coming off of the lakes, it totally murders the roads. Of all the places I’ve been in the USA, Michigan is my least favourite

I noticed that about the roads in Wisconsin when I was there Jan '09. All that cold weather isn’t good for them, they were in a very poor state, pot holes the lot!

Been to most of the places you show that are south of the Can/US border Mark. … Not impressed with Iowa 80 truckstop on the 3 or 4 occasions I went there.

Great Photo’s, Great Truck and a Great place to be working from the look of things.

Excellent post, really enjoyed the tour.
Got a young nephew on for Kriska, running out of a place called Prescott I think.
Seems to be doing OK.

Cheers,

thanks for takin the time to post the pictures and captions, it never ceases to amze me the overall size of the place, and the difference in tools for the job, lookin foward to more from you guys :grimacing:

Very nice set of pictures. I liked practically all of them and there were even some very eye-catching pictures. Thanks for sharing these!

Puddle Jumpers USA styleeee :sunglasses:

But seriously, a lift axle in American lorry? :open_mouth: I thought you didn’t have those as they are useless over there, or so I’ve been told :stuck_out_tongue: Seriously, I’d like to know if that’s factory made or what. I’ve also seen quite similar rigid in some video in Youtube and that rigid also had a lifted tag axle.

Lift axles seem to be catching on here now. You see quite a few super Bs running with two axles raised on the lead and one on the pup so you have two axles out of five on the ground. I reckon they must wallow like hell.
