UPS - Tamworth - Would You Leave

No I wouldn’t hand over my licence…

The gate bloke in the shiny shoes with the clean hiviz rings his mates and tells them such and such a house is empty, if they are questioned they just ask if Mr ■■ is in :grimacing:

The jobsworths are becoming widespread. I visited my doctor this week and then had to speak to reception to make an urgent appointment with the nurse, Miss Jobsworth asked me what it was for, and I just wasn’t quick enough to tell her and the assembled audience that my ■■■■ was leaking green fluid :stuck_out_tongue:

THey have no right to demand you hand over your licence. I think I’d be contacting their Head Office.

I’d rather burn my testicles in hot oil than hand my driving licence over to ANYONE.

Has anybody on here had the notion to contact the head office of UPS and ask what hairbrained ■■■■■■ came up with this idea, and how they think it’s related to H&S.

My first train of thought would be to see it in writing on headed notepaper signed by the UK CEO, and even then it still wouldn’t happen, not even if it was signed by GOD.

There’s too much ID fraud these days for to allow this to happen.

Ken.

Not a chance

the ONLY people that can ask you too produce your driving licence are the police and vosa officers no other people have the legal right too. it does sound like a scam though

im sure there has been a thread on here similar over the years.

There was one just a few weeks ago. The one were a couple of posters were saying that those of us who won’t hand our licence over to random people were just being awkward.

no chance, i won,t even leave my licence( or digi card) with my own company,s transport office

‘… Would you leave your drivers licence with security staff … would you hand it over…?’

I’d tell the Herbert ‘yeah, sure…’ before adding ‘only on condition that it is a specifically required feature within a valid Risk Assessment available to be seen as being endorsed by anyone higher up their food-chain, etc’.

That usually returns their stupid ball back into their stupid court before they leave you alone.

My response is broadly similar for requests to ‘…sign here…’ on an otherwise blank sheet of paper when booking into a place - and (to parody a line from Fawlty Towers) my signature suddenly morph’s into C.K. What?

scottishcruiser:
Would you leave your drivers licence with security staff if parking on there premises? It wasnt asked for when I went in but after having 12hours off on there premises and as I was leaving an Asian man walked out with a load of SEALED envelopes asking me my name? My reply was Why? Then he proceeds to say my licence should have been left when I came in! My ques was why? Answer was the usual - Health & Safety… Now after being scammed this week with my credit card by people from Bradford living the high life using my card whilst im working and now this @ UPS■■? Seems dodgy and its a rig ma roll to get back in but if/when I do go back I will be asking if this is standard procedure? Then I will park up elsewhere as if anyone who goes there will know its people of the Asian Ethnnic minority that work there and we know that licences are easy forms of identity = sent abroad etc etc…

So would you hand it over?

Not a chance in hell

I put up a thread a few weeks ago on a similar vein. Was told at SONY in Southwater that I couldn’t go on site till I’d left them my license.

Got off eBay a £4.30 “ID Card” made up with my photo and name on and that’s all they’ll get.

I’ve had to use it several times now, at ASDA Crick the other day was one of them, I think. They demanded my license and I just told them they could have my “work” ID card and that’s it. Took a bit of arguing but they backed down in the end.

next time they ask for your license ask them for there warrent card, when he shows his sia license id card just say that is’nt a warrent card and ask them for that police force area phone number, you will be asked why, state to him/her that the only people that have the authority by law too ask you surrender your license is the police and vosa enforcement officers. also report this too your employer and state too him that you will not be handing your license too anyone except the police or vosa.
