Two right turn lanes

And maybe I got that point, but not being a knuckle-dragger I knew that ‘they’ is not nouns-of-number neutral. It is a plural. You can mess about with gender - I do! - but you can’t mess about with the English language. Find a more original word ffs. More than once I’ve been totally misled by some well-meaning citizen misusing ‘they’ to completely alter the sense of a message. It’s dodgy practice.

If you’re mugged by a bloke who ran out of an alley and you give statement to the police saying, ‘They came at me out of the alleyway,’ you are already lying and possibly perverting the course of justice too boot because the police now think there is a gang of muggers on the loose.

Shakespeare, Wilde, and others have done exactly that though!
English is a living and evolving language. I’m sure you do already know that too.

It has to evolve upwards, not downwards. Any linguistic evolution that impoverishes good, clear communication should be resisted.

Regardless of who was at fault and the specifics of the actual situation, I’m sorry to say that this sounds like driving to meet the requirements of the driving test - the lorry will go round from that lane 3 - rather than defensive driving which would have been for the lorry to straddle lanes 2 and 3 to prevent anyone coming up on the inside or outside.

Thanks all for your replies.

All good at work, just got to get ripped the ■■■■ out of for a few weeks.

Just to clarify i knew the blue car was there. During my initial checks before moving off he was NOT indicating. Hes turned his indicator on in my blindspot and moved with no hesitation.

I accept that the as a hgv driver i should be aware of my blindspots. However the driver did turn into me without observation.

Until next time …

As much as I agree with the overall sentiment, I’m afraid linguistic pedantry is a dying art form, dare I say, moribund.

Even bog-standard understanding of your vs you’re, and there, their, and they’re is usually far too much to hope for.

you forgot two, to and too not to mention the difference between can and may

Not forgot, just avoiding getting too far onto my hobby horse :grinning:
Another serious bete noire of mine is the old “less” vs “fewer”, as well as “very unique”.

I never intended for this post to become an English lesson.

Please leave off with all the grammar and spelling police.

Some people are dyslexic :joy:

If you can spell “dyslexic”, you’re not.

Touche …

This is really cool. Can give a interactive view of the road. Never knew this could be done. Ty

I only found out myself today that we can embed Google Maps into posts and use it just like on the Google Maps website

If you’re not aware, Trucknet-UK moved to the discourse forum software at the start of the year, before that we could only post links to Google Maps … it is neat I agree

Very diplomatically put. And I resolved that should my intervention start to high-jack the thread, I would make an effort to edge the pedantry into the long grass.
Dyslexia lures KO!

Good luck with the lane discipline and don’t forget, ‘boxing’ or straddling lanes is a legit way of keeping the buggers at bay
