In uk there are 2 online sites that allow you to watch TV. The quality is quite reasonable, they are:-Zattoo and
Thanks Highway Man just downloaded tvcatchup very good site
just a little advice though to all the Techno “idiots” who wanna use the above sites …watching streaming TV and video off the internet with a mobile dongle etc,is gonna milk all your data allowance…an example being a 1hr programme is usually over 500mb or half a Gb…so if you’ve only got a Gb of Data each month,2hrs of TV is all your gonna get
not trying to tell you how to ■■■■ eggs, but there are people out there who really have NO idea
.
best idea is to download stuff off (for instance) BBCi Player off your HOME broadband and take it to work with you…saves a hefty bill from your mobile phone/broadband provider
oh christ,here we go again
im just gettin me head round the ipod thing
i use a usb d-tv stick, and the little aerial that comes with, it works brilliantly, the trick is dont run it using the software disk that comes with it, just use that to install the hardware i.e. the usb…then allow windows media centre to sync with it to operate and run it, its much better and smoother…
Just get a dvd recorder at home, get the missus to record your telly and then take the disc with you…simples
Ok you will be a week behind on your viewing but, is that such a problem
best thing is to buy a telly with freeview built in a telly is for watchin programmes & a laptop is for internet.
My partner has SKY so I downloaded Skyplayer using her account details but as said previously you need a good signal.
Remember your TV licence
Hi All,
I recently got a new laptop which has an inbuilt dtt tuner. if I take it to uni with me, do I need to buy a separate licence for it? I can unplug it from the mains while watching tv if necessary.
Thanks in advance.
Trev,
I know where you’re coming from re the battery question & licensing but AFAIAA the item used to watch TV has to be battery operated only with no facility to plug into the mains.
Personally, if I was going to be away all week I’d set the Sky Plus for the rest of the week then later use the HDD/DVD Recorder to put the programs on external HDD or DVD and watch on the laptop through the following week. No TV Licence issues that way.

Remember your TV licence
you don’t need one if you have one at home
clicky
For a vehicle, boat or touring caravan used as your second home
It covers:
The current licence holder
Anyone who normally lives with them at the licensed premises
Anyone who normally works at the licensed premises (as long as the vehicle, boat or caravan is being used for business purposes)
I’d disagree, unless you live alone.
For a static caravan, mobile home or moveable chalet used as your second home:
You’re covered by your main home’s TV Licence, as long as you or your family don’t watch TV in both premises at the same time.
So, because Mrs Tandy & the little Tandy’s will be watching TV at home (16+ hours a day between them, probably!) I would fall foul of the rule above (taken from your link) whenever I wanted to watch TV in the cab.

As you can see by the reply I got from the TV licencing authorities, you do NOT need a seperate licence for a tv in your truck
