I’m sure Tuffnells Head Office will be counting how many [zb]s they don’t give right now.
Yup, "tuffnells, the people who couldn’t care less "
Unfortunatly fella, I agree with these.
Tuffnells, worked for them once
So did I, nearly jacked in driving when I left. Transport ■■■■ used to ring me regularly and tell me I was near to getting sacked because I couldn’t do a run I’d never done before quick enough also got 3 separate bollockings in an hour for being refused entry to amazon. Definitely not a place to work if you like being treated like a human being.
When you get jumped up idiots like that as transport managers, who threaten you with the sack, I’d feel obligated to tell him/her to take a running jump and come collect the truck as I quit. I’d also wait to make sure it was them that collected it just to be annoying as hell!
I start work at midnight,go to bed 6/6.30 pm normally, there’s people cutting there grass, motorbikes 22 yr old daughter and her boyfriend down stairs, mrs,tv,music, friends ,family and people just generally getting on with there lifes(sunny evening,6/7 pm ) which is what they should be doing,my head hits the pillow and until the alarm clock goes off at midnight I don’t hear a thing, are you a light sleeper .
You should have copied the TC into the email, Tuffnels would see they’ve been CC’d into it then. Should also have put more emphasis on the using a horn in hours of darkness as well as a stationary vehicle sounding it’s horn.
As it stands, Tuffnels will just put your email down as a ‘moaning’ truck driver.
Kerbdog:
I had to park up out of time near to their Haydock distribution centre last night.
If you are one of their ‘professional’ night drivers who were the subject matter for my letter of complaint (see below) then I would like you to know that it’s supposed ‘drivers’ like you that make me ashamed to be a truck driver sometimes. Not just 1 idiot, but several of you.
First time I’ve ever written a complaint in my life but I had to do it as these idiots disgust me.

I am writing to you to point out what I consider to be unprofessionalism from several of your drivers either leaving or entering the Haydock depot last night. I am a truck driver myself and work all kinds of unsociable shifts such as days, early mornings and nights as my shift patterns change with the work. After delivering to Haydock Cross and running out of hours I parked up at the dead end of Kilbuck lane near to your depot. I have worked for several companies around there and know that although not the best place to park for amenities, several trucks park up there (as was the case last night).
One of your Scania trucks pulled out of your depot and parked up for a break a bit further up from me. I wouldn’t have known he was there as as you might expect I was asleep. Now, I’m a heavy sleeper. I sleep with refrigerated trailers and they don’t wake me up. However it became apparant to me that somebody was beeping their horns around 2.20am this morning. It was then I noticed this guy parked up (probably having his break which is all well and good and what he is entitled to do). It turned out that the horns were being blasted between trucks leaving the depot as they drove past this truck who was parked up having a break. The first couple of times it happened it woke me but I didn’t take too much notice apart from to think of expletives for this activity to myself (don’t forget I’m not the only sleeping driver parked up there either), but when it became apparant that some of the beeping was from this parked up truck I decided to get up. I decided to get dressed to go and find out what this guy’s morality was to be using air horns when there are 1) other drivers asleep around him, 2) between 11pm and 7pm and 3) several residential houses nearby. I also wanted to see if anyone more of his colleagues used their horn to acknoweldge him and vice versa. Unfortunately for me the guy started up and drove off and I was unable to speak with him or get his registration number. Obviously you will know through tracking systems who was parked up for 45 minutes at Kilbuck lane 200 metres up from the depot around 2.00am and 2.30 and I hope a word might be in order as to his conduct along with maybe a driver notice as to being a ‘professional’ driver. I certainly wouldn’t comprehend beeping my horn in the night unless it was to avoid a collision, especially not to acknowledge my mate(s) as I leave the depot.
I probably wont ever park up there again but that is not the point. It wasn’t the conduct of this 1 idiot that is the point either, but for several ‘drivers’ to be doing it (more so with the houses near by) is to be completely out of order. I know the houses are not immediately next to the depot, but in the dead of night I can hear ASDA’s fridge motors running at their RDC in Skelmersdale and I live over a mile away. Please bring this matter to the attention of your night drivers and ask them to be a bit more professional in the future, if not for the sake of the ‘professional’ drivers who have no alternative but to sleep where they can, but to people nearby to your distribution centre."
OK, the trucker shouldn’t have been tooting his horn, but let’s get real here : you decide to park right outside the main gate of a big overnight parcel hub and then complain about the noise… Not sure if you’re being serious or just trolling. What if it had been FLTs tooting their horns going in and out of the doorways? Sorry but I don’t have much sympathy for your case here I’m afraid.
best thing to do give it a couple of days in no reply forward it on to the local vosa traffic officer for that area , i would also copy tuffnels in on the email,
it’s a complaint against them when they apply for more vehicles .

Sorry, Kerbdog, whilst I totally sympathise with you, if you had managed to talk to the driver concerned he no doubt would have had no hesitation in telling you what you could do with yourself.
People who can quite happily be ignorant and incidentally happily break the law, aren’t going to be the type of chap who would welcome a friendly chat about him acting like a t**t.
RobK, i had no alternative but to park there. I was only just over half an hour from the yard but i had no time left and as the trailer wasnt shipping that night the company was not bothered about me staying there as long as everything is legal. It saved me petrol and time staying out and i got my £25 night out fee which is ok by me. Also it was not just one rogue driver. As for parking near to a parcel hub…it wasnt any noise from the hub that bothered me as i wasnt directly outside it anyway. I was actually closer to the palletline hub which also never bothered me noise wise. I must also point out in my email the bit were i mentioned being outside TNT and Royal mail last week were i slept soundly. The point is not the location as i sleep anywhere no problem, usually under a running fridge, but the problem of constant horn blowing on the public road between 2 and 3am.
Anyway I got a reply ! I have to type this as copy and pasting on my phone is a pain but it basically says sincere apologies for what happened and that the guy would investigate who this was. Fair reply I think ! At least it was read !
Apologies to you if you dont like my grammar or spelling but i am using my phone to post. I do make more of an effort on a more comfortable computer.

They are not fitted with tracking systems so thats a none starter. Overnight parkers are a pain outside Tuffnells depots. As most Tuffnells depots are located on Industrial estates these areas are free for drivers to park up but it causes real problems during the night Coventry depot is a fine example with drivers double parking all the way down to Tuffnells gate leaving a single track down the full length of Gresham Road. As for Haydock its about time they double yellowed the approach roads as the position some drivers leave their vehicles parked up for the night has to be seen to be believed.
I was backed up out of the way at the dead end. The tufnells truck was hslf on and half off the kerb just before the place the snack bar goes. Reply was from a guy called Dave Whalen. Fair enough for him to reply though.
I had a very similar experience last night.
I parked in the gateway of the factory that I delivered to this morning.
I was completely off the road, so I know for. Sure that I was not inconveniencing anyone.
Across the road, there was some kind of distribution warehouse, so you expect a bit of noise.
Anyway, there was a few artics loading in the evening, through to gone 11pm.
But some of just had to check out the air horns, the last one I noticed, was at around 11.
I stuck a pair of those foam ear plugs in,and never heard another thing.
It was near to Hermes depot on barleycastle estate.
I did have a look and it was a new model actros yellow in colour, that seem to park in that area, just cannot remember the name.
Sad men, sad men.
Still I had a lay in, and avoided the M62 in the morning.
If I ever see any truck parked up in the day with the curtains drawn, I always keep the noise down.
I dont run the motor to run the microwave early doors either, when I have neighbours.
Others are not as considerate.
Never mind eh?
Sadly this sort of selfish behavior is becoming more prevalent. I put it down to an ever increasing number of drivers these days never having done a job that involves being out all week and facing the daily realities of parking a truck at night in any of the non-existent parking places and then thinking they’re being big and clever when pulling off their ignorant little pathetic actions.
I’ve never yet experienced much of this from other truck drivers, its mainly car drivers who turn up for work in an industrial estate at 8am and are inconvenienced for 4 seconds trying to get around my parked truck and then think they have the right to blow their silly little car hooters to relate their annoyance to me. But I don’t think its unfair to say that quite a lot of today’s truck drivers are nothing more than car drivers in trucks.

Would have been better outside our yard simon widdowsons just past the Scania place and behind Malcolm’s quiet there every night I’m parked up often in our yard piecefull all night. Not on with the horns though I’d ha flipped at him don’t like being woken up
