Truckers looking after each other NOT

thankyou Nightline my sentiments exactly.

All of this died out possibly by the advent of the ‘continental’ influence, more and more british drivers picking up the ‘thank by indicator’ responses by their european counterparts on their travels ‘over the water’ or the increase in european drivers on british roads who didnt do things our way !

I used to do the sidelights flick on and off during the day as a way of expressing my thanks. I even continued to at night do the lights that tally off and back on even after an embarrassing experience with (iirc) an FL10 when the switch came off in my hand just as I’d turned them off in the pitch dark.

Nowadays I do the dancing indicator thing because I drive an Actros and when you turn the lights off it takes a few seconds for them to actually go completely off, which kinda makes that redundant.

I remember driving an FL7 once, had the engine running, tacho open to put a card in and turned the steering wheel, the wheel caught the tacho and snapped it clean off… :unamused:
