Truck stop advice

Since when have msa’s been secure

They’re not, but as my firm insist, and they’re paying, who am I to argue?

I tend to use truckstops rather than MSAs where possible though.

Same with us, insurance pays out if anything happens in an MSA or truckstop. They won’t if we’re parked in a layby over night.

Maybe not be what some want to hear or believe.

Back in the real world this doesn’t happen, other than the not even once a year for 10 minutes when the pricks want to top up the coffers.

I suppose though if PC Cabbage is passing and has nothing to do at 2am rather than knock the driver up he could issue a ticket?
Ive lost touch with UK policing so have no idea how strict they are now at enforcing these kind of rules. How many have had tickets? What are they like with foreign reg trucks in laybys?
Only asking as im in the UK in this very area next week (12th/13th march).
Hoping im not stuck in a layby but as i wont be on a time schedule may sample Thurrock msa purely for the experience :grimacing:

In theory of course they could, I have never heard or seen it happening nor has my old man who’s been doing this since Christ was a boy.

PM me and I can give you a couple of places not far from Norwich for parking, nice and quiet with facilities, save you 30 quid and having to suffer Thurrock

And not laybys either!

A.

Adonis, pm sent.

Foreign lorries have a dispensation for parking on the hard shoulder.

I got a ticket about 10yrs ago at that ind est right next to the old A1 at Knotingley opp the msa, after I had parked there for years previously with no probs.
It is lit up like Blackpool on there, I had a meal in the pub on there, came back to the cab at about half 10.and was woke up about 2am and found a ■■■■ copper had put a fixed penalty on my windscreen…for parking without lights. :imp:

I rang them a few hours later and was told that (apart from it being well lit) a family could quite possiblly have run into the back of me :open_mouth:
, I asked how many families done a tour of industrial ests through the night exactly, he came out with more crap so I told him to go and ■■■■ himself, hung up, and had to pay it (but did get it back off my firm, who were a good co. to work for then.

I later learned that there had been a spate of load thefts on there, and this is how the useless ■■■■ s dealt with it, by penalising the drivers rather than catching the scrotes who did it…bloody typical easy option policing. :unamused:

Incidentally does anyone know the score on parking there now by any chance, I’ve never been back since.

Well it makes a change from the usual signs saying theives are around here, instead of catching them shift the blame.

If it’s the same one I’m thinking of robroy, I’ve had a break there and didn’t notice any no parking signs or anything like that around.

There used to be a huge layby at Apple Thorn (spelling?) nr Warrington 100m from a really good pub which used to do a big variety of food. I used to try and get in there if running out of time after getting loaded with soap powder at Lever bros. It was always popular, is that still there or has it long gone?
