Truck Sat Nav

[zb] it. Im tempted by the tomtom 5150 live now. £100 pound cheaper and just as good. Seems do same job sombody above says

I use one of these both in the UK and mainland Europe. They are pretty good and the traffic live features can save you quite a lot of time.

However - even though they are a dedicated truck satnav they will always try and find the fastest route. This route will not always be the best way to take a truck regardless of bridges or restrictions. It will get you into trouble without a bit of common sense.

I always check the route on a map and use my satnav as a guide only. Doing this will always keep you out of trouble.

I have the s8000 although i have not had much use out of it yet but i think its the dugz bawz the tv is a must but the dab radio is a bit of a ripp aff cos its a extra 100 quid for it

They will try to find the fastest route but with a very heavy bias towards A-roads and Motorways. This is a perfectly understandable approach (95 times out of 100 it will yield a sensible truck route) but, especially for the final 10-20 miles, it may well be several miles longer than necessary.

Took mine to France last week (on holiday, not in the truck) and was very, very impressed by the Traffic service. It flagged up several significant problems on the Autoroutes (20-30 minute delays) and allowed me to happily divert round them, saving me an hour or more on my journey.

Hey guys. I was buying s8000 but changed my mind last minute so saved extra £100 and went for tomtom 5150 pro live. Got it last week and took it out on car for test run as im not driving lorrys yet due to this ba#@$lls about 2 year experince. Just want to get my grip bag ready. So anyway took trip to grave yard to vist my grandad and uncle which is around 15 20 mile in car tomtom took me right there. And of course after that i type in about further  . So drove long way home and made 3 diffrent distnations and took me to all 3, just hope works in lorrys. I bought it for weight bridges etc. So just lets hope it works

Had the Snooper S8000 a few days and so far is mostly good. The bird’s voice is a tad on the quiet side (que Brian Blessed over-ride please snooper) but the display is nice & clear so even missing the audio it’s easy enough to be where I need to be.
