Hi Colin,
All OK, just finishing up a 5 wk holiday back in Devon, travelling back to Tm on Tuesday for another tour, its too ■■■■ hot hot out there for me now (50c in AGB is too much for a white man ) - will be taking in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia & Uzbek as well all before Christmas…so shouldn’t be dull
I was in georgia in April just after the hoax TV broadcast about another Russian invasion and up in N.E. Uzbek in Andijan a week before all the shy-tea kicked off with their Kyrgiz neighbours.
In July a funny thing happened in AGB - i was mooching round outside our office on a smoke break and a couple of old brits showed up driving a 1964 petrol land-rover canvas top. Because of the heat the petrol was evaporating in the carb & it also buggered the points up as well so they called in to the auto-service downstairs to see if it could be fixed. These blokes had spent years in africa so used to roughing it and had driven from kenya to london way back & decided one night in the pub to drive to china. They got this far…anyway I made them aware that the border in to kirgistan is closed so they ruled out that part, instead they would drive up through uzbek & Kazak & onwards to Russia - home by 1st Sept.
They had great gash (car damage, not a female) right down the side of the landrover, peeled open like a spam tin…seems they got jammed between a truck & a bus in Iran somewhere.
Never know who you’re going to bump in to next -
Sir +:
Just now seen this thread.Fantastic.Please post more if you can.
will see what I can do, my field/road trips are few and far between now - boring bl00dy office-airport-office routine and not much chance to have a good mooch about…but will certainly try

I have seen them in Dover as regulars! must be very long distance!!!
Unfortunate name for the company…perhaps he’s just a very happy Turk
Some Turkish Heavy Haulage units that showed up in Azerbaijan with some farm eqpt.
Good snaps!
Lovely pics! did they drive to Azerbaijan from Europe or Turkey ? are they brand new machine?

Hiya Betz, they loaded the new eqpt. at Izmir and travelled across Turkey, in to Iran through to Tabriz, swung left and came up through the border at Astara and off-loaded in the southern part of the country (2009)
Here’s a couple a pics from today at an oil 'n gas expo. This little octopus has a v12 elastic band, 650 horses under the right foot a generous selction of 4 forward & 2 reverse gears and is apparently good for 124 tons
Dunno why they put the fowls house up on the back, the motor was underneath the cab
BLOODY HELL! You could shift a small continent with that thing!!!
bit of a beast isnt it!!!
thats a maz cab i believe, did they have connections with fiat/iveco? they look a little like a scania 111 i think…
Yes, its a MAZ cabin, I’ve an idea they’ve just grafted it on the front of one of those old Soviet missle carriers…the ones with a cab in each corner.
This is the latest MAZ offering…
Seems that MAN are working with MAZ now…after a quick google this is the link that came up.
I remember about 10+years ago travelling thru Kremachug in Ukraine & seeing the Iveco signs up at the KrAZ factory…but fairly sure that was a short lived ride.

that looks exactly the same as all the older rubbish running about!!! i have seen the older MAN f series badged as MAZ-MAN, mostly belarussian registered trucks
Here’s a few more from the event…again MAZ and a couple of KaMAZ…apart from the new frilly bits its still the same old cab underneath
some recent pics from Azerbaijan…trucks had come from Bander-Abbas to Baku
fab photos!

Glad you both like them its not often I seem to have a camera with me at the opportune moment…there’s a number of TIR parks out here that would be a photographers heaven
here’s one more of the second N12
Did all the N12s use the rear of the F88 cab or was the F10/12 cab used on later models ?
Newer NH12s use the rear of FH12 cab dont they?
