I first started reading Truck magazine back in October 1980 and to be honest I think Truck was always the best around. The magazines nowadays just seem to be full of the same, month after month, even though I confess to still buying T&D - not bad, Trucking - pretty awful, Commercial Motor - full of doom.
I’d like to see more: Long distance diaries, Test matches, A day in the life diaries perhaps written by drivers themselves (with photos,a bit like Luke’s videos but on paper) ,Some nostalgia - 1950’s to 1990’s, Legal news, Readers photos and How to features (We can all learn something).Model Trucks, Updates on legal news and a Whats new feature to keep us all up to date.
What we definately need less of are: Mobile Scania christmas trees full of bling, Music reviews, Military, Vans, Court cases showing us who got their pants pulled down by the TC, Crosswords and wordsearches.
I think whichever magazine actually listens to us, the people who spend the money, will pretty much clean up. What we need is variety, and not something which reads like a series of press statements added together.Remember bling is fine just not too much of it, lets see some motors getting dirty.
Picked up trucking for the 1st in agessss today
And Earthmovers Mag “mainly earth plant stuff” picked it up onces before tho it was quite a intresting mag

I would guess Earthmovers Mag would be mostly earthmovers. Then again, Classic & Vintage Commercials is mostly “old ■■■■ sends in 10 pages of war stories with a few grainy polaroids; we edit it down to 8 pages over 2 issues…”
Yet again, the “Truckers Test” still doesn’t say which truck is better. And why is most of the truck v truck article a bloody history lesson? I also believe the drivers’ comments to be well edited/made up.
Thought I’d bump this as there’s a sticky by Rikki on the subject;
IMHO there’s nothing in T&D, Trucking and the classic mags this month that can’t be read in WHSMITHs’ and then put back on the shelf.

Read T&D the other day and almost bought it. It’s the most interesting (to me) issue I’ve seen for a while. I did however resist the temptation.
I actually enjoyed this months offerings. The merc test piece was good & didn’t go on about the technical spec of the truck ! And the Philip judge piece weren’t bad either. Also the boat carrier was interesting. But the flour truck article was a bit boring and I didn’t even bother reading about the t cab scanny, but it does look nice. All in all it passed an enjoyable hr.
