Truck Cab Layout, your views?

At the moment I’m driving a Stralis active space cab. Which is totally wasted on some one who only works days. It does however have one or two good features. First one being an electric sunblind which I thought was a gimmick. After using it I changed my mind. It is fully adjustable up to about nine inches down the screen And goes all the way across the windscreen with no gaps.
Another feature is the module for the gear lever which can be turned around to give easier access to the cab.
Also the fridge is accessible from the drivers seat,so the cold drinks are easy to get at.
A couple of minuses. First no where to do the paper work, unless you sit at the table. The day cab has a handy clip board.
No decent cup holders.
No wired in hands free for the mobile which in this day and age is poor.
However all switches etc are easy to reach from the drivers seat. All the mirrors are adjustable from the drivers seat and the seat is comfortable, heated and fully adjustable.
All in all I like it. The stereo does distort when you turn it up to about fifty, mind it could be my ear drums

But then 2 cup holders and i’m happy.

Who’s the second cup for jacky?

:smiling_imp: More of a what:-

Fill cup holder one third full with blackcurrent juice.

Unwrap a few tampons. Leave to soak in the blackcurrent juice for as long as possible. Taking care not to wet the strings.

(If at a suitable distance) using the string, dangle in view. Then lob out the window at the offending person/s.

Guaranteed to horrify.

[I know it’s not for any Dutch drivers

Don’t remind me.
Good memory you’ve got there! :open_mouth:
A sats nav and maps are wasted on you. :unamused:
So come on. Give them to me! :smiling_imp:

chaversdad:
and 4 cup holders

 You big show off.

DAFMAD:

This has more of the right ideas.

 But you know what’s wrong with it tho? Yep. No cup holders…

knight:
No decent cup holders.

:open_mouth: What? No decent cup holders? They can put man on the moon. But no decent cup holders. The world is quite clearly sick.

on the subject of cup holders.
why cant they put a cup holder on the floor or in the bottom of the door.
that way when you climb in with your cup you wont spill it everywhere.

A lot depends on your stature as to what truck suits any particular individual. Truck manufacturers have to compromise, what suits someone of a large stature at 6ft* may not suit someone of lesser stature (I’m 5ft 3" (and a bit))

For me, the best by far is the FH12. I can adjust the seat so that I can reach everything without stretching. All the instruments are easily visible and the flat floor is good for getting out the n/side, and the bunk is very comfortable

The worst vehicle is without doubt the MAN TGA, on the two occassions I had the misfortune of one of these (zb’s) I ended up losing time off work after stretching muscles. If you need to stretch, you will end up with stretched muscles, pain, and time off work.

One other vehicle I had a problem with was an ERF, my right knee was right where the ignition was. Was traveling on a B road round a bend when my knee caught the key and turned the engine off - the steering locked - the engine stopped. Fortunately I managed to turn the key and get everything working again, but it could have been nasty.

Funny that (well not really… ) but my first drive of a new model ERF for C ■■■■’s at Ossett had the same thing happen to me and I’m 6’3.

I never bothered to list the faults with the ERF as I feared for those still on dial-up connections …
