TK Dave:
You can also direct your comments to my bosses, their names are in the front of the magazine
problem solved! you can double the content next month by printing all the letters that your boss will receive from this website
like someone else has said, increase the content and you will increase sales. you dont make money without forking out first. i would suggest you drop a dictionary in front of your boss and point to ‘investment’
I used to buy the odd trucking mag ( depended what was in it ) , quite a lot of computer mags, several F1 mags ( including Autosport most weeks ) and the occasional Private Eye, Viz and World News but now rarely buy anything, very few are what I would call value for money with usually only one or two articles at most that really interest me.
true but some of the articles in them are invaluable ie legal issues. i buy all 3 mags without fail. the first section i look at would be the readers letters, then the articles/news at the front and i usually go on to the legal pages from there. some of the information or case studies would cost a fortune to get from a solicitor and you can even ask for legal advice yourself. that alone has gotta be worth a couple of quid a month
Fair comment scanny77, the trouble is, when magazines lose their content
or for some reason the interest fades, things easily get in a downward spriral.
It’s as though the readers can feel the vibes, something like reading between the lines. It’s strange how fortunes can rise or wane.
Thick or thin, I still think T & D’s a good mag, there’s always something of interest to read and it’s not afraid to face issues head-on.
to be fair, it is not all down to the bosses (its not like me to defend ANY bosses but im trying to be open minded cutting corners or content. a lot of the problem must lie with the drivers. everyone who uses these sites must have some kind of interest in other drivers or the industry in general. why else would you be here? on the other hand, how many drivers are turning their backs on the rest of us? this trend seems to be common among the tippers and trolleys (altough not exclusively) and it seems to be spreading. how many drivers know about these sites but do not use them? they probably feel the same way about the industry media. they do their job, go home and forget about it. i cant say i blame them with the way the industry is going these days. i think most drivers are thinking 'is it worth carrying on in this job?. the first thing to go will be their interest in fellow drivers and it will escalate from there. give it a few years (and more regulations) and it will only be the die hard fanatics left on the roads amongst the foreigners. i would hate to see this outcome but things are not improving and retention is as much of a problem as recruiting
i havent bought it for ages it just isnt good value for money for me. it has got to the point wher it is half the size it was and what there is left seems to be mostly an 8 page article of some knob with a cheesy bird airbrushed onto his 580 scania pulling boxes out of felixstowe for 2 weeks until he goes bust.

i can accept a downturn in profits but surely they can subsidise that with the money from Commercial Motor? they must be raking it in with half a magazine of pure revenue ie the 2nd half, adverts! again, i buy every issue but why do they waste so much of it advertising trucks? i think i answered my own question there. money!!! if they cant get the buyers, they can make money from sellers advertising in it instead
T&D is the only mag. I buy religiously every month. But, I have found myself buying Trucking mag. with increasing regularity lately and I`m afraid it IS becoming better value for money as far as volume is concerned. Although saying that I still find T&D more interesting to me.
