Maybe ezydriver could mention that about disused lines line to the Traffic Commissioner in mitigation as him or her takes away the license.
If it went to court, the CPS would rip that argument to pieces like a pit bull shredding a child’s soft toy in its mouth.
Nobody should ever rely on advice from other drivers for what bridges to get under, the driver giving duff gen, a military saying for incorrect information may have had a full tank of fuel, and the trailer fully loaded so the truck and trailer is sitting slightly lower.
The next day, the same truck is used by a different driver but the fuel tank is nearly empty and the trailer is empty, he hits the bridge because Bob from the yard does that route all the time and never hit the bridge.
By the way, Bob will not be paying the fine.
ezydriver:
The circles are probably on bridges of main train lines, whilst the triangles are probably on bridges of disused lines, so a bit less important if hit. That’d be my guess.
You maybe should have used pictures Zac, not big words!
I shall in future make all posts at the level of “Janet and John walk Spot the Dog”

Ive only just done another cpc last month and it was about bridge strikes!
It never occured to me to ask the question then but its not a big issue because I simply treat the circle or triangle the same.I simply wont go under any of them.Thats my default position even if another driver has told me it fits
The instructor should have made a concerted effort to explain everything that was relevant, so that is largely his fault that you aren’t aware of the differences

Really!!! Have to ask where this idea comes from?
Although if we read the Highway Code it does say what they mean ….
Reading the Highway Code? What kind of insane talk is that Mr The Corn? Let’s not get carried away and start expecting people to crack open a book…

It’s true. I heard two drivers talking in Tesco Reading about this, one of which overheard it in a pub from someone connected to the railways.

This one strikes me as odd, in that there are no markings on the bridge itself, and triangle signs on posts instead.
Is that because roadsigns should be on posts at the side of the road, and the ones on the bridge are only extra ones to help?
Perhaps. Though if I am coming up on a bridge its the bridge itself I am looking at for the height.
The one in the photo for instance could be taken as a 16’3 unmarked railway bridge if you miss the signs on the side of the road. One side can be lost from another passing vehicle, plus vegetation can impede view.

No,he was more intrested in ticking all the boxes, telling to put the phones away dont eat, dont, drink dont be late, and of course, all the horrors of what the traffic commissioner can do

And why are they triangles when it’s not an arched bridge?

The lack of emojis suggests you’re being serious, if that was supposed to be sarcasm you need to edit it to indicate so, but if you are being serious…

Why would that be sarcasm? I tend to have a lot of faith in people and what they tell me. There was another driver recently in Tesco Lichfield that told me in the 80s he was on Euro work. He said he dashed for this ferry but just missed it, as the lorry in front was the last one on. But he said it must have been God’s intervention because the ferry sunk, killing many people on board. He said if he’d been on it, he probably wouldn’t have been talking to me that night.

OK, a man of discernment, respect.
You’re just the kind of person I like to talk to, I’m in a position to offer you the deal of a life-time: I’ve been authorised (can’t say who by) to find high-quality, very selective individuals such as yourself to let them in on the ground floor of a rather special new project.
For a modest up front payment of £1000, I can pre-order for you ten acres of moon land, which in the very near future will go on sale to the wider public for a price of £10,000 per acre, which, considering your £200 per acre purchase price equates to a net return for you of 5,000%
Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll send you the details of my account at First Bank Of Nigeria Plc Sort code 11152303

I had a similar thing at Daventry rail port. The re eptionist told me to park my lorry in the middle of the yard so the container could be removed but,for some reason,I went around by the track and then,I heard a loud bang, the heavy winds had blown 2 containers over where she told me to park. And Im thinking, what was all that about?
