The-Snowman:
Well the rider obviously wasnt too worried about the horse acting suddenly and unpredictably since she managed to hold onto her phone with one hand the entire time…
That sort of makes it alright then.
Good job the Travis Perkins Driver understood horsemanship, That’s a rare trait in the haulage world.
After reading Snowmans post, I can not fathom why hundreds of people on social media are against a LGV reversing up to a horse.
As Snowman says, the young teenager on a horse was in total control, whilst she felt threatened to pull her phone out to record the actions of a professional LGV driver.

Not actually what I said though is it

So could we both agree the only person acting in a proper manner we’re a teenage ■■■■■■■ a horse, as opposed to a professional LGV Driver who gets paid from a large Company which preaches H&S
I may be wrong here, Iam just going off facts as I see it.

Yes We certainly could.
My point though, since you missed it, is that instead of holding on properly due to the very real possibility of the horse rearing up, bolting or getting spooked, she decided to hold on with one hand and use her phone with the other.
My first instinct in that situation would be to hold on and be in proper and full control of the unpredictable animal, not getting my phone out to record anything thus rendering my control limited
Just my thoughts. Agree with them or not

My point is…regardless of how a young teenager were holding the reins of her mount.
She was in control, imbecile professional LGV soon to be sacked driver was not in control.
Maybe you’re right
Maybe holding onto a large, unpredictable animal with one hand is just as good as with two.
My (albeit limited) experience of horses and their behaviour tells me differently though

Go to any rodeo it’s accepted to only be in control of your mount with one hand, preferably waving a Stetson with your
other hand.
Don’t get us started on HRH riding side saddle with no helmet for gawds sake.
Yes your right about your limited experience with horses.

Try reading the whole post, not just the bits you want to focus on, and keep it in context

I bet in a situation like in that video they’d use both hands though
Plus Im willing to bet she isnt a pro rodeo rider either.
You can try to lead the conversation away from my original point all you want but the fact remains, holding on with 2 hands is always, no matter what, safer and more in control than only using 1 when the horse may act suddenly or unpredictably.
Nothing you say can change that fact. Its basic common sense (probably why youre struggling to understand it)
chester:

What, that it tells me differently? It does.
What does your experience tell you? (Watching rodeos doesn’t count as experience btw)

Travis Perkins Driver is an idiot, your trying to find any excuse to justify his/her behaviour.
Any average mon on the London Omnibus knows what’s accrued except you.

Never once tried to justify his behaviour
Never once tried to excuse his behaviour
Never once suggested he wasnt an idiot
Never once suggested the rider was at fault for the situation that developed
In fact, if you care to look back to 0844 this morning youll see we were in agreement regarding he wasnt acting in a proper manner so id be interested to know how youve reached this conclusion
Nice try but I see you havent changed much.
As I said though, my experience is limited so feel free to show me any evidence you have that in a situation where a horse may behave erractically that one hand is better or equal to using two. Maybe im wrong
seeing as how the snowman must be bored senseless to be allowing himself to be troll baited so easily then if its good enough for him, then its good enough for me.so how about this…
if you are not in proper control of a truck with only 1 hand on the wheel and can be prosecuted for doing so,then by definition miss entitled must also be guilty of failing to exercise proper control of her horse.
at least t/p drove professionally and didnt scud the side out of the parked cars…and looking at the video he wasnt exactly close to her anyway.
just another example of an animal with a fanny halfway up its back.( similar to a police horse)

I know your experience is limited.
Hence why I will give you a perfectly good example where riding one handed as opposed to two handed would be beneficial.
Jousting … it says so right there in my Ladybird book of medieval England.

Horse isnt acting unpredictably though.
She isnt a jouster either
Try again

At what point was she in not in control.
I can see a professional LGV driver losing control.
Eg Red mist.
At no point is a horse rider not in control at any point.

You asked me to show you evidence, admittedly I can’t due to my example being from the Middle Ages.
Jousting you loon, get over it!!,
chester:
Polo
I said “may act unpredictably” not “examples of anytime” so polo and jousting dont count.
Keep trying, but id read below before you do…

Nah. Ive ignored young chester for months now but I was bored last night and knew I could get him to respond with one post and he didnt disappoint. Like a kid who sees a sign with “free puppies” next to a van he took the bait
And since ive now got him to the point of avoiding answering anythingand using jousting as an example, im going to back to ignoring him before he starts pointing out spelling mistakes.
Drummer mounted band of HM forces etc
Just sayin

Are you ignoring them.
