This is a photo of GUILSTAP EARPS loading out of the many maltkilns in newark around the late 50s.
I remember A Rose,it said “Send your goods by Rose” on the backs of their motors. I think Ransome,Hoffmann and Pollard, bearing manufacturers had their own transport in Newark as well.Newark Haulage were,I think, part of a group including Hudson Shepherd from West Riding and another from York itself, names gone though.
Wasn’t there a company called B W H in Newark, blue wagons and summat to do with Trent Wharfage,or was that Gainsborough.
Nigel will put me right…

I remember BWH from north muskham newark. Their yard was just off the A1 north bound on the left, just over the level crossing. They used to have the Scania 82s and 83s with british sugar trailers…

Your quite right chris.B W H or bells wharehousing were based at muskham and now its called pocklingtons.I remember
B W H having a place on northgate in newark,at that time there lorries were yellow.Coming back to RHP ,i drove for them
in the seventies and have lots of photos of my old lorries.
Weren’t Hempsalls from Newark, did cattle feed IIRC?
Yes, your memmory serves you right chris, cant remember myself if keneth wilsons were hempsells for runners
or the other way round. They both were based at weston on trent near tuxford. The yard and garage now belong to
HUTTCHINSONS heavy haulage and heavy plant.Whilst driving for R.H.P i sometimes used hempsells garage
as one of my vehicles was on hire from transfleet at nottingham and they booked it in for service when they were
to busy to do it themselves.
this thread.Cheers Bubbs.
This photo was kindly given to me last week. These E R Fs were based in newark.Sadly one of the drivers died
recently.
