Dear Ronaldo,
Just a futher appendage to my previous post, and in order to address the absence of truck mentioning which some might find sacrilegious, I attach three photos. One shows the lengths some people went to advertise me as a missing person, another indicates that I still have a big one despite my trails and tribulations and the third one is of you on your knees. I hasten to point out that you weren’t listening for train coming, neither were you praying for another six day breakdown trip to fund your next UK break. Actually you were preparing to be on the receiving end of your boss Vic Turner for not fixing his car properly!
As John said Camels were hard to spot at night …here is a pic courtesy of Ian ( THE PIG ) Pender of the SARAMAT gang image 1… camel loses image 2 … Volvo second best

Well I never did ,you haven’t changed ! still foraging for food , what animal are you hopping to catch in the net ? I can only guess !! Something that flies ? Something big ? Something thing With along neck ? !!! I know !!! A crane Ha ha , I must congratulate the Sturgon ! Who saved you ! I though that they had not yet found a cure for Mixermatoses ? But they can do almost any thing today including putting pretentious UKIP candidates on the side of trucks with offshore accounts Well Mirlinwerlin it’s great your back on board ,if only to get me going ,your mate Ron
Wirlinmerlin, I went to look at a trailer factory in Damman ,with V T the Arab who owned the place was building 40fts with very heavy steel they would be twice the weight of our C/F we where carrying oil pipes as you know, and VT wanted extra width so we could get more pipes on this did not however come about , but the Arab took us round his "Rabbet " Factory !! He had two monstrous tunnels full of Rabbets there must have been thousands ,you would have loved it ■■?this was air conditioned with running water , much better than T/A I might add , he also had two wives ? His second was a blond from Sweden very very very nice!!! ! You would have certainly loved her !!!her villa was a big palatial home this also had running water in fact it was a stream running through the ground floor in just meandering along a natural rock garden with flowers etc , It was really very nice , you would have loved this as well !!! But I think I have gon on to long about blonds and Rabbets I don’t want you to have bloody heart attack you must still be under the doctor ■■? Ron
As if Saudi has not got enough ?what with the Oil, Gold Silver Copper and Iron ,mines , plus the empty 1/4this is filled with the purest Cilican glass sand in the world I mean a trillion trillion trillion tons or more of this valuable sand ? They have even got " Roses "growing under the desert can you BELIVE it ,Well John Hill and myself went looking for and found these unique desert Roses in a place near Al qatife, digging in the sand about 2ft down the trench just half filled with water unbelievable, exposing these fused sand formations that are called desert roses ,red hot heat of the Sun crystalizing the sand together forming these attractive shapes big and heavy marveluse Trees, all on the one level. This only happens in these unique areas Ron
A-J you asked about Life experience in Saudi Arabia , living as a family !! with my wife and two teen age children in Khobar , I worked in Damman about 4miles up the road and opened the workshop up at 7 am the Sun was well up by then and already hot ,my wife and kids got about enjoying the days in the sports complex and swimming pool called Alzara with other ex pats, going out my wife had to sit at the back of the segregated bus with the local women all blackout how different ? The local women where more pushy trying to push and shove you had to stand your ground she told me , going shopping in Damman our girls use to go to the fish market this was in a walled market area , the jewellery souk with occasional guards lazily slouching about, she said this time the Gard dropped his magazine and the bullets just bounced about, they jumped away from the man, walking to her friends houses they always had cold damp face cloths in the fridge to cool you down ! Red hot of course , the parties we had where very good disco on the flat roof In our block with Loud music !! Sally our daughter was in a band called Touch she was very popular and we where always worried when she was out playing gigs ? Our son Mark played football with the lads in Khobar it was a great experience for us all . Sleeping under canvas on the beach over night at 1/2 moon bay, swimming in the gulf at night the sea was fantastic as you swam the sea around you would light up with millions of illumines plankton this was something never to forget Ron
@Ron…most considerate to share nice bits of your daily lives! More than thirty years later we all
think different about multicultural influences. Aircondition made life comfortably common and we
all are ‘spoiled’ in our cars, houses and offices nowadays, not knowing better. I recently watched
a documentary on the Gulf-region from its early beginnings…Persia/Iran with pearls, later oil etc,
the role of the Emirs/Emirates, the British and the Americans, oil, progress in terms of all kinds of
infrastructure, roads, water, public offices and the ex-pats…impressive developments.
Have a wonderful evening!

Some interesting information on the PT-fuelsystem…a familiar part for Ron I assume?
Documentation is from mid-fifties after the fuelsystem was introduced in 1954.
A-J ,The P/T fuel pump is so simple to understand it’s working ,as you may well know ! I will try to explain the Governor, this is a Button , if you think of a sailing boat , the the bigger the sail the more wind it will collect ! Pushing the boat faster This is the same in the fuel pump, the bigger the button, the the same pressure of fuel will push the button harder this in turn governs the fuel supply it so easy to understand .To think this small robust unit the size of a tee pot controlling these trouble free ■■■■■■■ engines is a credit to the design , Ron
Well Ron, Clessie and his team made life more simple and comfortable
Have a nice evening!
A-J
About a year ago I made an old tinker happy with some PT-fuelpumps which he would restore
for some of his V6- and V8-powered KRUPP’s of the mid sixties!
■■■■■■■ has a rich history when it comes to testing in general and racing in specific, they participated
4 times in the Indy500 of Indianapolis, in 1931, in 1934 with two cars (2- and 4-cycle-engine), in 1950 and
in 1954. The outcome of the 1954 Indy500 resulted in the introduction of the PT-fuelpump.

Hi
I think it was me asking - the company was a 50/50 split with ■■ It will come to,me eventually!!
The GM brought a Brit Driver body parts back home in his suitcase after being in his freezer - not much left apparantly!!
Bad news really
Ken B
My what some ,sit up !!and look photos.
i think the analogy of RONHAWK referring the larger sail on a boat may not be 100% correct as a sail is used as a high and low pressure the same as a air craft wing ,more .low presser air passing around the out side negative than inside filling the sail= positive.HOWEVER that is about all i know,…Ronhawk READS as one brilliant experienced engineer.
Looking back at this photo it must be ? 35 years ago ! But do you know it seams so real to me I can taste the burnt sausages ? This was somewhere down the track, I think King Solomans mine , it was cool in the mountains, Nelson was well organised ,the rice the beans and the burgers perfect , thanks Nelson , it was a treat ,sorry to leave him after the repair ,I remember driving back , in the mountains mist, fogy ,there was a lorry crash in front of me I immediately over took ,and as I did a truck wheel just missed me , it rolled past me down the mountain , I was bloody lucky, there where wrecks all over S/A and not to be in one was always the aim ,The Mac was the one for safety with its long nose , it’s good looking back having got through in one piece Our lads did good out there thank to Ala and the ■■■■■■■ engines !!! Ron
Hi dbp & Ron.
As a single man, there was not a lot going on in terms of life outside work in Saudi.
My lifestyle changed when I got married for the second time and, determined not to make the same mistake and leave her behind, she came out to Saudi to live with me there.
Julie was a teacher and soon got a job at ‘the British school’ so she wasn’t as bored as many wives.
Suddenly I was very ‘inviteable’ instead of just being another spare p****.
Even before Julie came out, Pat Conway had a speedboat and we did a lot of waterskiing at half moon bay. We became quite good at it and eventually we reckoned we could teach any body to ski. Have to admit, some pupils were a trial!
Pat bought a swimming pool and we put it up on the roof of his single story villa. We made sure that a supporting wall was directly below it, but spent several tense hours watching the kitchen ceiling for cracks while it filled!
Boy, we had some parties on his roof! Luckily, we weren’t really overlooked. Didn’t take a lot of photos. I can find Johnny Longhorn on some of them. Not sure if you or Merlin were there?
John I never had the pleasure of meeting you lovely wife ,if I had I would surly remember her ,The shots of 1/2moon bay brings back vivid memories ? This one in particular I will write about , camping out over night we commodered the peninsular at 1/2 moon bay blocking of the area , with our vehicles and tents !we had BBQ and enjoyed the sea , It’s now late afternoon we must make a move ? This chap then took a short cut across the flat desert towards Khobar , I had been following this in my Duster ! Then he drove straight into a culvert nose down about 5ft deep I could not believe what was happening , he must have not seen the culvert in the low sun, I jumped out and lifted out the women and kids they where in mid air with the doors open they scrambled out of this hole and where shook up ? ? I had a clothes line that we tied the dingy up with,i tied this to the American estate car lashing up 4times and pulled hiM out Ron
@Ron…all ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ still exist…in Indianapolis-museum and in ■■■■■■■ HQ
Wow, hear those cylinders doing their job!
