GRTS Ron. I have just watched the video On GCC thanks A/J idid not see my picture in the group of staff ■■

KB. The BP rep ? I remember now he was a keen photographer ? And he had a very interesting photo of , would you BELIVE it of the cement factory this was at night , the light and shade of this shot was brilliant with the cement dust billowing out of the factory against the poorly lit sky this was in Jeddah ? I thought some time ago when you said there was no cement factory in jeddah you "where " wrong "and since you put the comment on about the oil can it came straight back to me ,this factory did exist and I think it was up the Merdina rd then left towards the coast Ron

I think you were in the plane towards Columbus Indiana to be awarded by Mr. Irwin Miller jr?

■■■■■■■ had nice booklets with comics to instruct/inform drivers…here some pages, out of 1957

A/J. The knurled thumb screw yes you are taking me back , the cartoon pictures are great , Aways remember to reset so you don’t have to stall the engine when the battery is full it’s just the same shutdown on all sizes Ron

It’s a brave man (even a cartoon one!) who puts his hand through the steering wheel spokes on a Saudi road!! One pothole and his thumb is out of its socket. Robert

I scrub OK after all that hot engine oil !

Wow Ron…and you could without your nice spouse that long in SA or did you (all) later moved to SA as a family?

By the way, what is your production-year? You are now enjoying retirement?

If more visitors/posters are interested in the complete volume of the ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ I will scan it…

yes scan the booklet please, not many uniforms in the uk back then …reminds me of the early american tv truck shows…late 50s,
i hope the tyre checking is in it,like kicking the tyres and its round and black ,job done.

First half of the booklet…to avoid DBP to remain curious…no tyre-checks, sorry.

and more…

Brilliant! I wish they still made cartoon driver’s manuals. Robert

…now complete!

I guess some ■■■■■■■ medals are under your feet or under the piano’s feet, lol

A/J that’s a very good booklet excellent-advice ! The ■■■■■■■ engine full recon ,turn around at GCC was 48hrs work time max sometimes less this included 8 hrs On the Dyno at full bore building up to full load , before the Saudis would Sign them off, it was hard work not a trace of black smoke no silencers just 1-2 stacks pointing up to the blue Sky deafening and hot ,the ink in my pen I had in my shirt pocket ran out !The KTA big Vs gen sets where tested with electrons lowered and dipped Into a big tank of water this boiled in min,s Noisy at the far end of the yard .out of the Frying Pan ,into the Fire Ron

Top highlights Ron! Were the generators for the oilfields or hospitals?

I notice you have quite some ERF-years on your counter…what was
however the general competition on trucks in SA? I wonder that White
was hardly seen or am I wrong?

Trans Arabia had a White this was a truck , the only one that I saw , the big trucks that Zieed tractors had where Peter-built very impressive transporting D10s etc the oil trucks where KWs and Detroit Diesels ,they had one in for repair at GCC ,I gave it the cold shoulder I did not understand the valve set up with the rockers, too busy, the KWs c500 we supplied , the smaller trucks all Mercs. And of course ERF , not forgetting Backsplice F89 s assortment of all No Fords?!!! Allowed■■? you had to take the labels of your MS shirts ,they where funny that way ? Photo of the KWs and D / diesels East side Ron ,
