Trans Arabia outside the villa Jonnie Davies legs are sticks out from under the Mac truck and was in mortal danger of having his legs trampled on by a herd of goats. John Parry took this picture from the roof of the villa and we could count on having goat on the menu tonight!
The arrivel of the Mac trucks created some excitement for some of the drivers. 113 was alicated to John Parry.
J.P’s truck pictured here with an awkward load of bed springs! He too was a very good driver as well as all the Brit drivers! Ron
Is a sad for me to look at these pictures knowing the caring work we did to keep these trucks on the road. This photo was provided by Jona X fitter of S Jones and thank him for that. Ron

The lads hated carrying this stuff - spent hours pushing timber between the squares to stop it slipping - not to much weight compared to normal container loads!!! Or the loads for coils of the wire we carried from the ship to the factory 28 @ 2ton coils per trailer.
This was for the BRC Alfadel a joint venture with BRC Weldmess from Stafford - still very friendly with the General Manager of the factory at that time - he is retired and lives on the North Coast of Devon

Since my baby left me,
I’ve found a new place to dwell,
It’s down at the end of lonely street…
Sometimes even the cab looks attractive!
As long as you didn’t mind the heat and the Mosquitos!
The flies - the ‘Saudi Arabian National Bird’ and some of them were as big as birds! (Well nearly) at least they left you alone at night. I assume that those massive compound eyes didn’t work then.
Mentioned before, poor John Longhorn obviously had something very attractive to Mosquitos. He returned from a trip to Jeddah, where they’d parked him up at the bottom of Taif, completely covered in Mossy bites. That must have itched!
Even one in the cab had you reaching for the ‘Raid’!
What we couldn’t understand. You would stop for a brew, 500 miles from anything resembling life, and within minutes you’d be swatting massive flies. What did they live on? Geoff Collins used to reckon you took them with you, in nooks on the truck or trailer, but I was never convinced.
John
There’s something about the staged shots the cameras are ready, the trucks are ready OK !!! take Two They remind me of John Wayne? Head em up , and move em out !!! They are in my opinion a absolute Classic. Thanks John Parry, this is Trans Arabia
Sorry about the quality, you can see its a Bit "faded "but this shot is unique !! Andy always had a problem at the port gate, yes I am English he shouted let me in ? I am with the others !! We checked the mirrors ! did he get in !!! We could get in without a pass I write smiling, Ron
JPs said this is somewhere near the tap line ! The fuel pump had stopped working and a new one was being fitted ,I love the sky Ron
