Trailer Manufacturers in the UK

Didn’t think Schmitz had a factory in the uk anymore. They shut that one up north when the recession hit?

I’m not sure ss. I did notice that on a straight forward google search for Schmitz Cargobull there is no mention of that factory on the SCB page. It was only by including Durham I found it.
It is/was actually in a little village called Hare Law. I once collected a new P&O Ferrymasters trailer there. Nice ride out on a Saturday morning it was after a pint in Durham the night before. (parked the unit on the station car park).

The Schmitz factory closed at Harelaw in 2010, and moved all its Fridge and Curtainside trailer production back to Germany. There is a Schmitz sales site located in Warrington, Paul Avery is the top bloke there. He may be able to help with a good quote for your trailer purchase.

Well, well, I didn’t know. You live & learn.
Suppose it makes economic sense to centralize production, however whilst the UK loses yet more manufacturing employment and output.

Yes it was a shame that the factory closed in 2010 with the loss of 170 jobs - having been under Schmitz ownership since 1991- before that it was York Thermostar - 1985-1991. Having previously worked there, I found that the management and workforce worked together to create a quality british built product which was bought by many hauliers and blue chip companies.

Dennison at Lancaster.

See a lot of Dennison’s round here, seem pretty solid but then again it could just be as they are local.

Funny I never even consider Don-Bur unless it’s for those teardrops which look impressive, but from what I’ve read on here aren’t rated by the drivers.
