No they are specific limits for driving any vehicle including cars for work purposes along the lines of domestic regs.

There are no written legal limit on the hours for a car driver. It’s is not specified in the Highway Code. No the H&S acts .are we mixing best practise with legal requirement?
It may be an internal company view, but I’d be really interested where it says the limit and what that limit is.

Assuming an accident in the course of a commercial purposes vehicle movement, raising the question of tiredness, why do you think that the law wouldn’t interpret a car as being a passenger carrying vehicle with less than 8 seats subject to domestic hours regs for that specific type ?.
Or for that matter an unregistered and/or untaxed vehicle over 3.5t being driven same on trade plates.

The link you posted doesn’t seem relevant - where does it mention the law on a passenger vehicle <8 seats being subject to domestic hours regs?

It clearly mentions the requirement for hours regulation.
What hours regulation could possibly be applied and referenced other than domestic regs re a passenger carrying vehicle under 8 seats ?.
Which effectively just means the same thing as over 8 seats or 3.5t> but without the need for a proper log book the drivers wage timesheet will suffice to prove breaks and rest.
While in the case of 3.5t> it’s obvious that an unregistered/untaxed HGV, not allocated to an O licence, can’t run under EU hours regs in the form of a tachograph record.
It’s clearly domestic regs 3.5t>.
Either way no one is driving more than 10 hours in a shift, let alone spreadover a 15 hour shift, without a record of it happening.
Tacho regs indeed.

Let’s get this right.Nowhere does the law state that driving cars for work and commercial purposes, including trade plate work, is defined as being exempt from domestic hours regs.Nor that cars don’t meet the definition of ‘passenger carrying vehicle’ under 8 seats.
Or for that matter any exemptions in that regard applied to < 3.5t or 3.5t > on trade plates.
While it’s obvious that EU tacho regs can’t apply in the case of vehicles that are exempt from O licencing which obviously means being driven on trade plates.

You mean apart nowhere apart from in the legislation which clearly states what is included, and motor cars ( that includes car derived vans) are not included. They do not come under domestic rules.

Transport Act 1968, section 95 defines it, I think.

No carryfast defines it, don’t argue with the master
