Trade Plates Question

No…You’ve no idea what I earn. I don’t like people either, hence why I drive alone. IF I crash, which I’ve managed to avoid for nearly 30 years…Then I’ll consider it to be a [zb] job. I like it, that’s what matters to me. Thanks though.

Insurance can even cover you when the wheels fall off! :stuck_out_tongue:

Waste your breath mate. As long as there’s people like him, there’ll be schemes like this. 1st time he crashes - 1st time in 30 years - he’ll be on here whinging about that scheme, so this thread is now in my favourites, even if it has to stay here another 30 years :smiling_imp:

Not an “at fault” though is it?

merc0447:
Dont listen to this lot mate, you need to take off the 5th wheel to be able to drive it with a class 2 license

Rubbish.

If it’s built as a tractor unit then class 1.

Trade plates are excise duty and insurance ONLY.

do you regularly fail the stupidity test?

there is no class 1 and class 2 and class 3 anymore, it is now known as category C or C+E

Not by anybody in the real world though

Anyway, there used to be Class 4 too, I had it on my first HGV licence.

Don’t forget Class 4a. And 1a, 2a and 3a!

Yep had all them. Eight HGV categories, 1, 1a, 2, 2a, 3, 3a, 4 and 4a and all I did to get them was trundle around Margate for a week in a day-cabbed Ford Cargo and an empty 20’ flatbed trailer. The only thing they could have done to make getting an HGV licence easier in them days would have been to give them away in Jamboree bags.

Like you said Harry, any body could drive a truck before the HGV came in but not everybody could handle what went with it, the roping and sheeting, the sleeping across the seats,Crash box’s,changing your own wheels, the list is endless what we had to do ,but, we didnt need H/S, and tacho’s, we had what seems to have disappeared, common sense.
